I spoke with Marc Morehouse, a University of Iowa beat writer for the Gazette in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, who told me that at the school, “This culture has always been borderline bully, fully military and aggressive against black culture.”

But Morehouse told me that the Iowa football program under the tenure of Kirk Ferentz — with 21 years under his belt, the nation’s longest-serving high-level college football coach — has spent more time constructing an image of staid continuity than addressing real concerns from players about racism within the program. “He’s been building a grandpa image with the help of a public relations firm,” he said. “You miss **** like your strength coach telling kids to go back to the ghetto.”

Seems like Rob Howe may not be the only Iowa writer who is "picking on" the Hawks.

Et tu Morehouse? Good for him.

Was it when he asked two questions, of which one was about Tracey Greisham? I don't recall the second question. Barta did kinda snap back at him right away.

The second one was when he brought up rhabdo. I dont remember the exact question but want to say it was along the lines of if Barta had second thoughts about retaining Doyle back in 2011 after rhabdo.

Yeah Barta has a pretty long rap sheet of all his wrongdoings. I would focus on his character and ethical choices more than a disease he's burdened with.
Here is the scoop the innuendo late last week was that we were going to feel sorry for questioning why Barta had been radio silent because of health concerns or some other "matter".

Guess what I don't feel sorry for Barta. I feel sorry for the young men that were treated like **** during his tenure. Barta admitted he knew it was bad. His effort to rectify? Weak and flaccid. It disgusts me what he has done to minorities of all types. What he has done to victims. Does it suck for him that he has cancer? Yup. Does that make him any more sympathetic for his inaction and outright hostility towards a entire swath of humanity? **** NO.

If @TRYHARDER is cool with his racist supporting AD, that has a verified history predatory management towards those not like him cool. I give zero ***** about Barta's cancer and it sure as hell is not an excuse to support racism vis a vis deafening silence.

If you think that's a dumb question, in light of what we know now about Doyle, it says more about you than it does about Leistikow.

I get that Iowa fans are used to fanboys who masquerade as sportswriters handling coverage of their team, but I'm not sure I heard a single question on Monday that was out of bounds, even though Barta seemed to suggest a few of them were.

It was a dumb question by Chad. Rhabdo and the race issues that have been brought to light are completely unrelated.

You just made 2 good points. Barta is an asshat and so are you. I support neither of you.

It's gonna be pretty damn easy to social distance up in the press box come fall...

He is you. That is the funny thing here. He remains because nobody has the stones to voice an opinion and effectuate change. I have no trouble admitting you are a coward along with the administration and the fan base.

Bo pretty much nailed my thoughts. There's no chance he didn't know. He just got caught.

You guys are missing the big picture.

The stuff they are doing can't be wrong. They are Hoks. Hoks aren't wrong. Hokdom is Nirvana. Recruits aren't going to care about this. It is Iowa, they endure anything to become part of the Historic Hok Legacy.

Just watch each others back, deliver mediocrity to a delusional fan base and carry on.
