Kirk Ferentz getting sued for being racist

I am waiting to hear the Both Gach outcome so took a peak at HN. They are turning on each other (well, "normal" vs racists). The thread on the former players organizing turned into the Atlanta shooting and there are posters stating that the victim had it coming for running with a taser. I know every fanbase has some, but the Iowa racists are coming out strong after their football program condoned it.

The national media won't be talking about Iowa anymore.....

Ehhh they will. Each story individually is going to get a lot of publicity. Gundy wearing that T-shirt is still a lot different than what happened within Iowa's program.

Gundy will likely have his own scandal with as extreme as he appears to be from events and comments of the past year.

However, with a ton of dead air to fill on ESPN and elsewhere, I think this could actually help get Iowa more coverage as it becomes a good segway rather than a fairly isolated story.

One thing is for sure...Barta seems to be setting the groundwork to fire Kirk if he needs to.
No clue if Barta will do such a thing, however he did leave the door open for that decision to be made if the independent investigation proves Kirk at fault.

To recap for those that didn't watch Barta, it boiled down to the following takeaways...

1 - Iowa awarded Doyle with $1.1 mil to walk away. Since his contract was up at the end of June, no buyout was necessary. One can assume why the nice gift was awarded when programs across the country are pinching pennies due to Covid.

2 - Barta admitted the University learned of racial disparities in a 2019 task force report but failed to take adequate action to remedy. But promised the new report wouldn't just be used as a door stop, it would be read.

3 - Barta gave full confidence to KF and even somewhat BF. Left a little wiggle room if task force report comes back crazy bad, but they didn't listen to the last report so not much to hang your hat on there.

What makes you think that? He said up front he can still lead the program. He practically set the outcome of the review before it began. Maybe I missed another comment.

I believe Barta said he thinks Kirk can be the one who can lead the program in the right direction, however when asked about the independent review and how it pertains to the coaches on staff, said they'll be taking a look at everything the review gives them and then make a decision based on that information.

So Barta largely admits this is hush money. With Doyle's contract up July 1st, there was NO buyout necessary. The only logical reason to them give away $1.1 million is to buy somebody's silence.

This was basically another made-up award for Doyle, this time for Iowa Football MVR (Most Visible Racist).

I didnt follow that line of questioning. Doesnt it seem odd and unlikely that they could decide not to extend Doyle for next year 2 weeks before the next year starts? Based on the below tweet, it seems like the 2020-2021 year for Doyle would have had to have been declined by 04/01/2019.

This review will likely wrap up during fall camp. Nothing meaningful will come of it. Guaranteed. Just more talk of listening, councils, task forces, and the like.

Which is fine if that helps their players. But there will be no real accountability.
