Kirk Ferentz getting sued for being racist

I emailed a certain Des Moines Sports journalist a few suggestions on questions to ask Barta. Here's the questions:

Since investigative journalism seems to have escaped most Iowa sports journalists here's some potential questions to ask Barta Monday:

Gary, have you asked Brian Ferentz about the allegation that he claimed to be certain that DJK was not getting drafted? And what was his role in discouraging NFL teams from drafting him?

Gary, Kirk claimed to be surprised that all these ex players now came forward. Are you not concerned that the Iowa football players were not comfortable addressing transgressions against them for the past 20 years? Is that the culture that you support?

If you want more I can go on. Just let me know.

When I said everything, I didn't just mean these allegations. I'm talking about everything that has transpired under him.

You probably should have had the accusations straight before sending the email.

Wadley is the one that claimed that BF told a bunch of guys "Dont worry, he isnt getting drafted" right after Wadley left the facility.

BF didnt even join the Iowa staff until 2 years after DJK played his last game as a Hawkeye.
 
Reading the Twitter comments of that Rob Howe article is sad.

"Once I heard him pronounce Ferentz name wrong, I tuned out" That one got 18 likes.

"Still working on that "how bad of a reporter can I be today" angle I see Rob." 12 likes.

"Terrible post, let's focus on the change moving forward. Put down your pitchfork." 6 likes.

"Rob, you're the only one that still believes Wadley's mom is credible. Everyone else thinks she's nuts. We're over it..." 17 likes.

"I'll always support our players and coaches. But this reads like a whole bunch of ********. Seems like the posturing mob is losing steam." 7 likes.

"Green is a hired NCAA **** stirrer. He knows next to nothing about the program and is in this for his own gain and self-promotion. Not a credible source. Motivation is suspect. But a typical Howe source."


So essentially this is all boiling down to, no one's story is credible, we're done talking about this, I'll support the team unless there's something bad involved, because someone mispronounced a name their entire claim is invalid.

Nice to hear a media member actually talk about the issues from the media.

Journalism used to be simply "Who, What, Where, When, Why, How" . It still is that but sadly with qualifiers on some. Who - believed if somebody journalist likes, What - severity depends also if journalist likes that person who lied under oath and that is OK but if journalist doesn't like person it's throw them in jail, Why - person made an honest mistake to person is evil. KF et al., are believed by the eastern Iowa press and what happened to some players happened to all players so not racist and if they made some mistakes they were innocent harmless mistakes and not racist. Joseph Pulitzer's "Just the Facts" are now spun according to the belief of the journalists writing the piece.

If this were an NFL locker room, the media would be treating this A LOT differently. The local media does not want to ask the tough questions because they're afraid of losing their connection with the team and its fanbase.

It was your "well actually" statement. Sounded like you were dismissing his post because he said it was DJK instead of Wadley, when in reality both of their accusations were similar in that they believed the Iowa coaches hurt their chances of being drafted.

Blum and CW did a good job on their podcast. Everyone else has been quiet from what I have seen and heard. I didn't see anything on the Gazette or Register site today.
 
And there is a difference between covering it (oh look the Iowa team has changed and they are leading the way) and covering it subjectively (Wow, 50 players are accusing Iowa of racism).
