Kirk Ferentz getting sued for being racist

Been offline all day but from the summary in the Register and a few comments I scrolled through (I'll never catch up so I'm not going to bother) it sounds like this press conference was just a big nothingburger that local media happily ate up?
Yes

Which was the whole point of the press conference and everyone fell for it

I kind of gathered that might be the case when I visited desmoinesregister.com and the 10 ISU players with coronavirus was one of the top stories and the Iowa football story was well down the page in the sports section.

Ah well, nevertheless...

Hopefully you didn't expect much different...just about everyone could have predicted the outcome. There is zero willingness by the local media to ask tough questions on anything Iowa.

I'm sorry I don't have much to add to the conversation.

I just wanted to say I'm very thankful that I've never had to go on a rival's message board and type hundreds of posts defending the racist coach of my favorite team. I truly do feel sorry for anyone that has been put in that situation by the racist coach of their favorite team. I feel worse for humanity that there are people that actually do defend the racist coach of their favorite team.

Again...I'm very thankful that I've never had to go on a rival's message board and type hundreds of posts defending the racist coach of my favorite team.
Especially on a Friday night and what I'm assuming will be all weekend.

I'm trying to catch up in this thread. Is the Iowa football program still racist?

Just partially racist. We think only M, W and F but trying to confirm. Obviously not racist 4 days which more than makes up for the 3 days they are and of course, they are not racist on Game Day.

People you find credible:

All white people

People you don't find credible for no reason:

Amari Spievey
Akrum Wadley
Terrence Harris
DJ Johnson
Akrum Wadley's mom
Jaleel Johnson
Marcel Joly

James Daniels too. He said racial disparity went on during his time. And anybody who was there during his time "knows what he's talking about." I think he also said the random drug tests were far from random.

It doesn’t have anything to do with how the black players felt. They didn’t opine, and obviously can’t opine, on how another individual feels. What they did say is that, based on firsthand experience, they know for a fact that some of the allegations are exaggerated, and some of them are completely fabricated. You are going to discount their own personal experiences because they are white?

So, for example, if I shot somebody 2x but a witness claimed I shot them 4x, they would be exaggerating. And if yet another witness said that I poisoned the person instead of shooting them they would be completely fabricating.

And therefore, what I did should have no consequence.

Do I have this correct? It is all very confusing.

it's pretty simple, if you're white and saying complementary things you're trustworthy. If you're black you're a problem.

Iowa media and hawk fans:

Art Briles is trash. I know he was never charged with any illegal activities in rape cover up, but there's clear evidence he knew and didn't take action.

Ferentz is good. He was not charged with any crimes in the Everson and Satterfield case, so he clearly didn't do anything wrong. He was trying to help the victim teaming with Barta to meet with the victim and lay out all of her options for getting justice. He had no ulterior motive having other players move into a crime scene. Innocent until proven guilty. I'm glad he then fought back against those questioning his character.

One thing I learned from this, and I realize I'm way behind the times and I apologize for that, is that the S&C coach had so much power. Essentially the number 2 guy in the coaching hierarchy.

From ESPN article:

https://www.espn.com/college-footba...black-players-issues-vows-improve-environment

"While Iowa focuses on moving forward, a group of parents of former players is planning to speak out about problems within the program, especially for black players. Sharonda Phelps, mother of former Iowa running back Akrum Wadley, spoke out earlier this week on Facebook Live about her frustrations with Ferentz and the Iowa coaching staff. Phelps and other parents are working with Pre-PostGame, a sports advisory firm, to discuss their experiences.

Pre-PostGame's Robert T. Green said the parents want to speak out after Ferentz said he didn't know about issues black players experienced at Iowa.

"This is not a one-person thing, a two-person thing or a three-person thing," Green told ESPN on Friday. "There are several receipts and time stamps that will say everything [Ferentz] said to the world is not factual. Some of the things that will come out soon, it only applied to African-American athletes."

Ferentz on Friday said he didn't apologize to former players he has talked with over the past week, but accepts blame for any who had negative experiences at Iowa."

$hit meet fan.

This is literally deja vu Penn State. Long history of abuse by trusted assistant. Head coach claims no knowledge, but that is laughable. Fan base refuses to accept facts and grants head coach herd immunity.

But as we saw in Penn State, once the general public (non-hawk) becomes informed, heads will finally roll.

The fact that Iowa is mainly irrelevant in the national spotlight helps them try to lie their way out of it. The fact that there is a vacuum of sports news right now will be the liars’ undoing.

LOL, I refuse to believe that anything more will come of this, maybe, maybe Doyle will be gone. But they will duck, dive, dodge, and spin their way out of this like they always do and come out in great shape.

If you shot them they died from severe lead poisoning, right?:D:eek:
