Kirk Ferentz getting sued for being racist

I feel like at this point I need a timeline of events. This has really evolved over time and it's difficult to keep track of how toxic it has gotten out east.

Yeah, there needs to be a consolidated list of the quotes from the various players too, something that could be copied/pasted and posted on a simple one-page website...

List posted - new thread created. Kept it objective but its shocking to say the least. I took a couple things out as I felt it either wasn't directly related to Barta enough or couldn't find information to substantiate claims.

I created one with respect to Barta's tenure but agreed on this specific issue we could use it.

But what if there is a player who writes a detailed account about his experiences and that player's story doesn't fit the narrative that this is all Doyle's fault and not the man in charge? What should that website do then?

He was a fringe prospect who just got busted for cocaine. No wonder he wasn't drafted. This isn't Joe Mixon we are talking about here.

I ran in the some of the same circles as Derrell in college. He was a regular at a bar that I tended at (Martinis) where I also worked along side Brady(His roomate that got busted with him). The guy is a complete sociopath and narcissist. Anybody that was around him knew that he was heavily involved in the Iowa City Drug Scene. Hell, I can't tell you how many times we had complaints from him doing blow in the bathroom.
How was he able to play at all at Iowa then if anybody that was around him knew? Like, he shouldn't have stepped out onto the field period if all of that is true.

Not sure where three days ago fits on your timeline but here’s a timely post by just another player parent name Bruce Kittle.

I’m told Bruce is just mad that his kid wasn’t good enough to see the field.

here's some excerpts

And by the way - YOU SHOULD HAVE KNOWN. YOU SHOULD HAVE KNOWN - IT WAS AND IS YOUR JOB TO KNOW. Racism and discrimination are not new topics. These are not new to anyone who has been paying attention over the past 40 years. These are not realities that anyone is even debating at this point in history. It is real and has been real for a long time and we all know that. MAYBE things were just going too well sitting at the top. MAYBE no one was saying anything, no one was complaining, no donor making a fuss or MAYBE profits and outcomes were fine so why look any closer to the behavior of some of your own people. MAYBE. And so it was easy to act like you didn’t understand, that you did not know, or maybe if you were seeing these things, MAYBE you didn’t think they were wrong and truly believed that they were not racist or discriminatory. MAYBE.

But with your great power (and big bucks) comes GREAT RESPONSITBILITY AND GREAT ACCOUNTABILITY and if you failed in that responsibility consistently over time, then I ask you, what does it mean now to be accountable for that failure? What are you going to do now other than say you are sorry, appoint a committee to review it, and promise to listen better? Yes, I thank you for being willing to listen now, when the media and entire world is watching, when statements about what was going on within YOUR organization are coming from everywhere, when people that were victimized by the culture of your organization are coming forward to speak their truth. But honestly it feels more than just a bit hallow and late. And help me here please. Help me understand that you really had no indications of any of this before? You never heard any stories or complaints from anyone? You never saw it or thought those things were racist? Really?

Well I'm sure the Register would run it as their front page headline in a special breaking new edition, so no worries.

Ohhhhh wait, you said it wouldn't be kind to KF or Iowa? Well then there needs to be a place that isn't controled like state-run media (aka HN) to post it.

Maybe it had to do with the staff caring more about his talent on the field than his issues off the field? So when DJK's time was up they didn't want anything to do with him anymore?

I will say this, I never once saw him hanging around other football players. Not once. He was usually with Bobby Jett and an entourage of douche bag's with terrible macklemore style undercuts and top knots.

Yeah but you get what I'm saying right? If everyone knew it, why did he play as much or at all?

I don’t think a college coach has the power to blacklist a player from the NFL. Were things probably said or information given on DJK? Yeah. But that isn’t going to stop a team from giving a kid a chance if he is talented enough. Just look at some of the players NFL teams have taken chances on and signed.

Kirk is pretty damn highly regarded throughout the NFL. If he advised a NFL scout to proceed with caution they are gonna listen.
