Kirk Ferentz getting sued for being racist

CFT picked it up

It would certainly be interesting if someone could ask the PD in Iowa City about this and see if they have any information on the raid. I'd assume that the call or "tip" was made anonymously, but you never know.

That response was 5 years ago. Has his opinion changed since?
Right, it's a lot easier to speak your truth when other people are hand in hand with you and also you've somewhat established yourself professionally in a profession where Kirk could kill your career should he so choose.

His opinion on whether Doyle and Ferentz were / are racist hasn't necessarily changed since then. He brought that up in his most recent statement..

Per the SI Article:

“So, is this racism?” Johnson-Koulianos asked near the end of his statement. “Is this strict, old school coaching? I cannot honestly say; however, going through this as a young, black male, I can genuinely say that whether it was their intent or not, I believe that race was a large part of it. I was just another black athlete and I wasn’t going to be bigger than their program.

That right there is why I think no one should be trying to shame DJK or silence him. This man is a college football coach who spoke out against one of the most respected college football coaches in the game today (not anymore).

I want to know who was doing the vetting? When you tweet you are usually doing so based on something at that moment. If you have to wait for it to be vetted it probably doesnt even matter by the time it makes it to twitter.

Downs is like most other hawkeyes. Scream from the mountain tops about fairness and equality and doing the right thing UNTIL it happens to their team. Then its "they are going about it right. I believe in the coaches and changes being made" Garbage

We're just going to have to see what actions The University of Iowa takes in all of this. What side of the conversation do they want to be on when this is all said and done?

I don’t think Ferentz will lose his job over this in a blatant way. Also I think there are avenues where Iowa’s program recovers. Doyle is young enough that he could turn up somewhere besides Iowa and have a successful career. The only thing that is absolutely gone forever now is Kirk Ferentz’s reputation as a statesman and guy who cares about every member of his program.

The trash can story

I've been in a group text message chat with 3 former Hawkeye players for years that were all there when DJK was there and they said the trash can thing happened "multiple times" and he had to walk around with it for nearly half of the entire practice

Well there you go. I've seen just as many people, if not more, say that story was true than I have seen those claim it didn't happen or happened a completely different way.

At some point, we're going to circle back as to why you are in a group chat with Iowa football players. In the meantime, good info.

Are you actually suggesting that a PD would raid a house on a drug bust based on one anonymous tip?

This is not me being political at all, just me being realistic, but Police Departments have done far worse with far less evidence of a crime as it pertains to African Americans.

If Kirk Ferentz called the police and told them he knew there were drugs in that house, I would have no doubt in my mind that they could've used that as probable cause given Kirk's reputation he had built at that point in Iowa City.
