Kirk Ferentz getting sued for being racist

LOL, coaches know everything till it's time to know nothing.

Furthermore, stuff like Ferentz saying he doesn't remember what happened with Morrow just galls me. He's a guy who remembers what was was run to start the 3rd quarter of a 2003 game against Middle Tennessee State. If you can't remember one of your players bringing allegations of racism to you and then punishing them for it, it tells me you're lying or you literally do not care about anything that doesn't happen on film on game day. Either way it's a tremendous indictment.

Before people assume this means I want Ferentz gone - I actually don't. I think anybody assuming he will be gone is out of their mind. Also, guys within the program are the ones saying Doyle and BF are the problems and need to go, and those guys know infinitely more than I do about the situation so I defer to them.

Ken is literally yelling on the radio with this sentiment.

The pre approval of tweets seems worse than the total ban. Initially, I dont really see a social media ban as racist but if they are picking and choosing what kids get to say on an individual basis, that could get really messy. I wouldn't agree with a blanket ban but I can get the logic behind it. The no hats, earrings etc...would probably not seem terrible on its own either but when you start piling all of this together, it all seems really authoritarian. It's really easy to see how players felt like they were forced to conform, especially players who came from places that are much different culturally than IC.

At some point, you have to start to think that even if KF sticks around, the major changes to the program might be too much for him to maintain success. A total rebuild of the program culture is obviously needed. I'd be leery the guy who helped create that culture can be the one who can change that culture.

I will preface this with I may be missing context due to ignored people but I think we all need to take a step back and look at this without as much emotion.

I think what we are seeing is frankly an out of touch coaching staff trying (poorly) to be more tolerant and accepting of players individuality. I agree that the new tweet rules appear worse than a blanket ban. With that said I think that’s someone who hates social media and individuality trying to be more accepting of it.

I am not advocating one way or another on Kirk keeping his job but I think it’s important that we have balanced discussions that evaluate multiple perspectives. You don’t go to Iowa if individuality is important to you. It’s also important that the restrictions don’t go to far. I think that Kirk has failed in listening to players. I also think that understanding what Iowa football was and is needs to be done.

I don't think we should assume he is gone, but I also don't think we should assume he's going to stay either. There is a boat load of information coming out about this and at the end of the day, the person in charge is going to get blame for it. If a school principal allowed misconduct by teachers towards students for years, that principal would most likely be fired. I understand that's a simplistic analogy, but it does hold some logic.

These posts are political...just sayin':

I just hope you are deleting political posts with consistency, and not only deleting the ones that you disagree with.

Stating that the American revolution started with protests and riots is hardly political. Both sides are discussing the vandalism in Iowa City through the lens of the world right now, which has been politicized but shouldn't be (human rights are human rights). We've deleted almost entirely only posts speaking against a certain political figure, posts that I personally agree with, but should be kept in the Cave.

So, I guess on your question of consistency - I could certainly even things out by deleting MORE of the posts I don't agree with, but I'm sure you'd have something to say about that?

And that justifies Kirk's inability to hold his coaches accountable for their actions and behaviors as well as have a lot of rules that are in place that discriminate towards his African American players?

Not at all, of course KF is responsible for the program. I was simply making a point that none of the guys speaking out played in the first 10 years of KF's era and saying that was odd.

It was actually worse after somebody asked him an, I’m assuming, unscripted question yesterday.

He said, I can’t ever recall having a player or parent talk to me about racial issues, after he was asked about his entire 21 career.

Love him or hate him, that’s a little to sociopathic in my opinion to say after 21 years and all the turmoil that’s gone on over there. KF was a control freak by all accounts and had his fingerprints on every inch of that place and to DENY any racial issues were brought to speaks volumes.

Go to Hawkeye Report and just read some posts. I read about 5-10 posts on a few thread and it pissed me off.

The thread on Kallenberger pretty much called him a ***** for coming out on this and how it’s another washout coming forward.

I’m sure ISU would have some idiot posters but Jesus. When people ask, why don’t you root for Iowa when they aren’t playing ISU. Well that’s why and another point in my favor.
