Kirk Ferentz getting sued for being racist

I do agree on Central Iowa media....If this were happening at ISU right now holy cow the 3 regulars we all know would be putting out an article every hour on the hour and interviewing former players and putting that video on twitter etc...And i'm not talking about CF media.

This story should be the biggest story in this state for past 2 decades..maybe more.

LE getting drunk at a party got more coverage in the state.
Just look at the stories rolling out from the Rag and other media sources when Iowa started pushing Bandgate with them...and when it came out that it was entirely made up...crickets.

Hearing how Brian ferentz would call jack kallenberger stupid on a daily basis is just wrong.

Sounds like Reese Morgan was his support. From the couple times I've talked to him I thought he was a really good dude. Makes me think if a guy like that can't go to KF, Kirk didn't want to hear it.

I thought spray painting Nile was too much but I can somewhat understand it.
But this? Why would you ever tweet this? (Brecht has shared it as well)

Also worth remembering here that Ferentz isn't just trying to save his own job, or his son's, but also his son-in-law's, who is their director of recruiting. It's a long gravy train out there.

I'm talking specifically about media in Iowa. Some are outright ignoring it, most are saying nothing more than they absolutely have to, and almost anything they do write gives Iowa enormous benefit of the doubt.

Getting the benefit of the doubt is baked in the Iowa cake.

Because if Brian goes.... then so will KF. Iowa fans don't want KF to be gone. Anyone but KF. Let Doyle go, let Parker go, let anyone go.... as long as KF stays. But KF won't stay if his son is removed.

You might be wrong on that one. Kirk isn't going to leave that kind of money on the table.

Can someone highlight specific instances that incriminate Ferentz? I ask because I guess I’m not really seeing cause for him to be gone. Maybe I’m just being cynical but I think throughout sports and other industries we are going to see some awful stuff come out over the next months. Active racism should cause people to lose their jobs but I fear if we get to far into who has tolerated crap we won’t have anyone left.

I think we have all tolerated stuff that is unacceptable. We all have to strive to be better. That includes Iowa State. I just fear that we are going to be in for a rude awakening of how prevalent stuff is.

Gotta think KF wouldn’t have even taken Twedt if he was black if the ISU/Twedt rumors are true. He’d probable be labeled for 4-5? years.

It’s his program. If this has been going on for years (earliest players was 07-08 I believe) and he never did anything about it? It’s been at least 3 coaches. Brian Ferentz, Doyle, and Seth Wallace who was the one calling Kallenberger stupid for having ADHD

That didn’t in any way address the point I made. I think we’ve all tolerated hateful behavior that we frankly shouldn’t have in our lives. I know I have. I’m ashamed I haven’t always had the courage to call it out. It is an uncomfortable issue. I think if we hold everyone responsible for failures to do enough we won’t have anyone left.
Like I said maybe I’m just being cynical but I think this is extremely pervasive in our society.

Cap'n Kirks use of "I can't recall" is the cry of the guilty after getting lawyered up

We are all in different roles. Everyone has to be responsible for the own actions but those in leadership positions, that are compensated and entrusted with overseeing an organization, are responsible for what goes on in that organization as a whole - explicitly or implicitly.

Put another way, someone in KF's position gets to enjoy all the spoils of his position when things are rosy - even though many others in that organization have a hand in that success. Our assumption is that he did the things to make it successful. If that is the case, then it works the same when the organization fails.

You are right, every organization is going to be under a microscope for a while. Those that have permitted (not just encouraged) a culture of racism to exist will see leadership changes of some type.
