Kirk Ferentz getting sued for being racist

I looked at Keith Murphy’s Twitter, he’s just been retweeting the bland stories. Spiciest thing he posted was just retweeting Amani Hooker’s latest Tweet. Even Chris hasn’t done much beyond retweeting the official releases and fluff pieces.

Rob Howe appears to be the only one not afraid to ask the tough questions, and he’s getting blown up by the knuckle dragging portion of their fan base for it.

I didn't want to name names or jump to conclusions, for a number of reasons, but Keith Murphy was a pretty obvious example of what I'm talking about. I can point to numerous examples where he's very active on social media and this weekend is relative silence. As you said, he's retweeted major developments in the story...which I would consider the bare minimum given the magnitude of the story and his past usage of Twitter.

It's the biggest Iowa sports story in a generation or more and the media in Iowa appears content to let it slide.

So Kirk made the white athlete do pencil rolls and suspended the black athletes the entire season? Yet you don't think Ferentz is at fault? Lol cmon man

I just said it’s not okay. It does seem to lend credence to the broader issues that are coming to light and shows that Kirk has played a role in it.

IDK, man, I mean. Maybe we should feel sorry for Ferentz. Just imagine how great he would be if the damn lesbians and rape victims and black players would stop getting in his way.

Wait till Dan Patrick talks about it tomorrow. Every commercial break thru iheart/Kxno plays a snippet of him talking about race/what’s going on.

I've definitely noticed Keith Murphy, Hassell, and i'm sorry to say our own local media members not really say much.

Maybe they don't know what to say? or want to see what all comes out if there is more etc..?

It is also probably not easy to walk a fine line of being opinionated and objective reporting.

Tell you this....KXNO tomorrow is going to be darn interesting.

Side note....I'd sure love to hear Jon Miller podcast on this.

Seriously. I’ve always thought he was a good coach but just overpaid. If you go thru his tenure there man, it’s something else.
Who makes the coin he does and fight over landscaping for Christ’s sake? You think about how little that should affect a CEO type of guy like him but then to claim ignorance on Jane Meyer, Section 8, Chris Doyle. I mean, that’s absurd.

Yeah, honestly been disappointed with KM so far. I don’t expect him to go scorched earth or blow up UI, but asking a few questions would go a long way. Even a “some tough questions need to be asked” post is a vast improvement.

I'm talking specifically about media in Iowa. Some are outright ignoring it, most are saying nothing more than they absolutely have to, and almost anything they do write gives Iowa enormous benefit of the doubt.

An Iowa reporter talked to some of the players about whether they raised any of these concerns with Kirk, and they said absolutely not - he was not accessible in that manner, and outside of the regular season it is essentially Doyle that is (was) running the program. Setting aside the question of whether that is an effective way to run a program (I tend to think it isn’t), it’s not unrealistic to think that Kirk wouldn’t know about the comments Doyle was making. It’s not like Doyle himself is going to bring it up in conversation.

Give it a day or two more. Honestly, Keith is a more laid back type of personality and he prefers to gather as much info as possible before making any statements. I fully expect that post from him by Tuesday.

It's not good when "I've been asked to remain silent."

What is inappropriate about that? I read that as he is asking the players who have been affected if they still feel he deserves to coach there. Maybe I am reading it wrong.

I'm guessing you've changed your mind after reading some of the comments, but in an organization with top down management and a culture of fear and abuse, how could they possibly give an honest answer? That's what got them into this situation in the first place.

I do agree on Central Iowa media....If this were happening at ISU right now holy cow the 3 regulars we all know would be putting out an article every hour on the hour and interviewing former players and putting that video on twitter etc...And i'm not talking about CF media.

This story should be the biggest story in this state for past 2 decades..maybe more.

LE getting drunk at a party got more coverage in the state.

Hearing how Brian ferentz would call jack kallenberger stupid on a daily basis is just wrong.

Yeah, too bad Kirk didn’t have some family members play for him that could have heard or seen that stuff.
