I don't think KF survives this. I don't really care if he does or not. He probably shouldn't from a 'what is right' perspective. From a rival fan perspective, if he is around - it has to hurt recruiting. If he is gone - chances are Barta screws it up, if he is around.

I think when this hits the light of weekly news cycle and with the level of emotion driving the national conversation right now, this will get WAY above KF/Bartas head by the middle of the week.

I would say I could see something like 'We are announcing that this will be KF's final year as head coach' trying to exit him gracefully but I think that will be too cute.

Will go out on a limb and say he is gone by end of day Friday - probably announced very late Friday.

Interesting questions to me are:
1) Does this go beyond FB?
2) If it does, is Barta gone as well
3) How deeply will this hurt Iowa's recruiting?

Not pulling any punches there
Didn't have to...dude in charge for 22 years...absolutely no way that he didn't know what was going on. Otherwise, how can he say he is the head coach and justify his $5M a year salary. Doyle was basically the 2nd highest paid dude on the staff...you don't think the head man was in the dark for 22 years? I've got some wetland property along the Missouri to sell you if you believe that.

How crazy is it to think Iowa players couldn't wear hats, earrings or hoodies in the football facilities until this last year? Hoodies? That's insane

This will be a theme all week and Dodd of CBS is the first national guy.."Doyle should be fired". Once it starts picking up momentum its impossible to stop. Not the Dodd article was needed to fire Doyle...Doyle fired himself.

This is a different kind of "Loss of institutional control"...It is a dangerous undergound unspoken motto between certain coaches to treat Black players differently..

And for that...Kirk Ferentz should be fired.

Maybe I am just jaded, maybe I have simply lost all faith in people doing the “right thing”, but ultimately, I just don’t see anything happening at U of I over any of this.

Maybe Doyle gets canned, but I think they will do everything they can to sweep this under the rug and pretend it never happened...

I could see that...double down on "we will do better" and Doyle sits out a bit, etc.

If we are going to make this about a rivarly, I want CMC and our team to come out of tunnel early in Iowa City and kneel for the anthem. :-)

Has anyone tagged Kutcher in any tweets?

I don’t think the people defacing the statue are really considering the man himself and his service. He’s a very tangible symbol of that football program and thus the statue is going to be targeted if you’re looking to make a symbolic statement.

The situation is a little different, but clutching your pearls over the statue smacks a little bit of the “you can’t kneel during the anthem because you are disrespecting the flag” spin.
The point is, it doesn't make any sense outside of being an *******. Hell, even some of the former players spoke out against it stating that it's wrong. But please, bust out false equivalences that have nothing to do with the topic at hand.

White teammates were ticketed for doing the same thing and had entirely different punishments

I was wrong. It looks like at least one white Iowa walk-on was ticketed for PAULA in 2019 and was still listed on the football roster, while Javon Foy was not. We can’t possibly know if he was suspended at all, but he wasn’t suspended for the whole season like Foy was. That’s not right.

I didn't even realize this was a thing until today. Some people have asked what white culture is in regards to Iowa's football program. Well, here's a good place to start.

If any Hawkeye players want to transfer, they’ve got a green light to do so and be eligible immediately. The Justin Fields case paved the way.

So Kirk made the white athlete do pencil rolls and suspended the black athletes the entire season? Yet you don't think Ferentz is at fault? Lol cmon man

Very fair points. If more articles like that come out, you have to think U of I prez will have to step in somehow. I'm sure tomorrow faculty/staff will.weigh in, maybe students too....could get uglier.
