Kirk Ferentz getting sued for being racist

I am just worried about throwing stones when this is likely a problem that transcends locker rooms. I don't think I could tell anyone with a straight face that nobody in the last 10 years of Iowa State Football has ever been guilty of things like this. I would hope that CMC's lockerroom does not have this issue, but can we guarantee that for Paul, Mac, etc.? Seems unlikely.

..And Chizik. That's the one I wonder about. He was a ****. But I hope he was an equal **** to every one.

I do agree with you on this 100%, but I really don't see why it would affect how I respond to what is going on at Iowa though?

If all this same stuff were to come out about CMC and other ISU coaches.... I'd have no issues about calling for them to resign or be fired. ISU football does not come before doing what is right.

I've always felt this was the big difference between me and Iowa fans. Iowa football is their entire life and nothing is more important to them.

Yeah, I'm with you there, I just want to be sure that we are doing this for the right reason, and not piling on because they are the hoks. People shouldn't be happy that this is happening at Iowa. (I'm not saying anyone in this thread is, just something to remember.)

And KF on Doyle as well.

So that's how this could get really ugly really fast.... and that's what I'm hoping for. Plenty of popcorn in the house!

I feel like both KF and Doyle are probably pretty stubborn "macho" proud guys that won't back down from one another..... so this could escalate quick I'm hoping.

The athletic department writes a big check and Doyle swallows the bullet.

IIRC this story started breaking on Thursday afternoon. In that time the DMR has run one story about it, in today's edition. A story in which the Chadster stresses that "no current or former players have called for Doyle's firing." I guess that would take some serious journalistic chops to find the tweets refuting that statement. If this happened at ISU, I can guarantee there would've been numerous stories by now, and some would be on the front page, not just the sports section.

Did the story break with James Daniels' tweet about "racial disparities" or was there something earlier than that? That tweet was on Friday night. The Register ran a Thursday night story that referenced a James Daniels tweet from earlier in the week about kneeling during the national anthem. It didn't explicitly get into the stuff that came up following his Friday night tweet, though if you read through the replies you can see hints of it.

Personally, I'm on Twitter all the time and I had to start following Rob Howe just to figure out what the hell was going on. *Nobody* was tweeting about it.

I know I shouldn't be surprised but I really am shocked Iowa went with the "it never happened" strategy

I do get some satisfaction though from all the years of Iowa fans calling our players "thugs", and from Barta telling the entire country about our theft issues of opposing teams at Jack Trice, and then the whole bandgate crap too.

But yet, according to Iowa fans, their programs were so pure and did things the right way.... which we all know was complete BS.

Truthfully, as it turns out, their programs are no better than anyone else's.... and potentially much worse.

Wow.... it just keeps getting worse. He doesn't seemed concerned in the least that his job is in jeopardy.

He seems to have little concern about his own career. But his behavior in the last few days suggest that he is desperately trying to save his son's career.

I can't believe KF didn't have better prepared answers than this?

I commend him for having this "press conference", but he really shouldn't have had it if he wasn't better prepared.

Besides barta is dumb jokes, does anyone have any thoughts about what the response from the AD will be?

I'm guessing dead silence for a while.

Unless he just posts a short letter about how they are looking into things, blah, blah, blah.
