Kirk Ferentz getting sued for being racist

This obviously doesn't look good but Doyle and Co should get their due process. I seem to remember an incident with a certain band last fall that when investigated and presented with evidence, told a much different story than the U of I perputated hoax. Problem with that is the hacks in the administration couldn't be trusted with providing a thorough, unbiased investigation.

Not that I'm arguing against due process, but those two situations are not analogous in any way.

I see nobody in the Kirk Ferentz fan club followed that up with “You don’t recall or it never happened?” Because a report of an incident of a player saying one of your coaches was racist seems like something you would remember if it happened. He definitely worded it the way he did to maintain plausible deniability.

Sounds of paper furiously being shredded in the Iowa football office.

Iowa fan here and WOW, Doyle's press statement was beyond belief. Reading the first half of statement I had a little hope but crap the last half of that statement just clarified that Iowa needs to get rid of him.

As far as KF I worry about his quote about the no parents reaching out to him about racist coaches comments. He might be to hard headed or prideful to admit to this, kind of like Clemens and Bonds with steroid use. As an Iowa fan I hope I am wrong, but I am fearful that some parent will pull up a text message that they sent to KF. I have a lot of respect for KF and hope he survives this but if he is lying he needs to go too.

I'm shocked to hear that KF thinks what Doyle has said and done is a lot different than what his own son has said and done.

If I'm Doyle, I'm not real thrilled to hear that. That is KF throwing you directly under the wheels of the bus Doyle.

This could get real interesting if Doyle turns on KF.

IIRC this story started breaking on Thursday afternoon. In that time the DMR has run one story about it, in today's edition. A story in which the Chadster stresses that "no current or former players have called for Doyle's firing." I guess that would take some serious journalistic chops to find the tweets refuting that statement. If this happened at ISU, I can guarantee there would've been numerous stories by now, and some would be on the front page, not just the sports section.
Maybe the players' mothers will get some press come next Wednesday. I can hear the big chunks of **** hitting the fan already.

"I can say with certainty that I have never received a certified telegram via messenger pigeon from a player's niece claiming issues of race within our program. I consider the issue closed. Also, all coaches are getting the Assistant Coach of the Year Award this year. Go Hawks."

-Kirk Frerntz

ETA: yes I know I misspelled Ferentz, but I like my way better.

Only Brian gets it. He gotta pull his hot headed son out of the fire.

KF gets in the College Football HOF. He wouldn't be the first in with a less than 60% winning percentage. He is well respected and that matters.

When life moves at ya fast

So if they didn't make comments but allowed this culture to persist, it is ok?

Is there any responsibility of KF to not just passively monitor for culture in the organization but to proactively insure every aspect of the UofI Football program reflects the culture of the University. Or can he just stay outside of the weight room doors, give Doyle a wink and a nod and go all Sgt Shultz?

Doyle has already turned on KF for all practical purposes.

I am just worried about throwing stones when this is likely a problem that transcends locker rooms. I don't think I could tell anyone with a straight face that nobody in the last 10 years of Iowa State Football has ever been guilty of things like this. I would hope that CMC's lockerroom does not have this issue, but can we guarantee that for Paul, Mac, etc.? Seems unlikely.

And KF on Doyle as well.

So that's how this could get really ugly really fast.... and that's what I'm hoping for. Plenty of popcorn in the house!

I feel like both KF and Doyle are probably pretty stubborn "macho" proud guys that won't back down from one another..... so this could escalate quick I'm hoping.

I do agree with you on this 100%, but I really don't see why it would affect how I respond to what is going on at Iowa though?

If all this same stuff were to come out about CMC and other ISU coaches.... I'd have no issues about calling for them to resign or be fired. ISU football does not come before doing what is right.

I've always felt this was the big difference between me and Iowa fans. Iowa football is their entire life and nothing is more important to them.
