Iowa Football Recruiting

Obviously it is probably.

I didn't say it was the standard always did I? Fred had a ton of success when here. He won conference titles, competed with the best team in the league and took us to sweet 16's. He raised expectations. Understandable though how Hawks wouldn't get that as their standard seems to be just beat ISU

Hoiberg did not make multiple sweet 16s.

No who you were responding to, but I think we should narrow down what "standard" is here. If a Sweet 16 is the standard at ISU, having done that 4 times in 30 years (assuming that was correct), then Iowa's standard in football would obviously be a top 10 finish (5 times in 30 years).

More realistic, I'd say the standard would be 8 wins for Iowa Football. It's expected at this point, over that is a success, and under a disappointment.
TBH I don’t spend enough time on here to really know who anyone is

I like how you have to move the timeline back and act like it was always the standard. Again, the standard was raised during the Hoiberg era and that standard is for what fans what in the NCAA tournament. As I mentioned before, judgment for what is a successful season can fluctuate based on conference tournament etc

I didn't say he took us to multiple, but i see how what i wrote could make it sound like that, shouldn't have added the s

Hoiberg had a lot of success at ISU no doubt and I'm sure ISU fans have got to be thinking what might have been had he stayed, similar to Iowa fans and Lute Olson back in the 80s.

Obviously it is probably 8-4 and go to a decent bowl game. With the hope that you can contend for a division title or conference title every now and then.
But didn’t I just see that winning 8 games wasn’t considered a “decent season” by hawk fans? Apparently it’s the “standard” for Iowa football but when ISU (who we all know has been historically awful) wins 8 games, that’s laughed at and not considered a decent season..by some hawk fans.

so I guess would a “standard” season for Iowa be considered a decent season? I’m just trying to make sure the lines aren’t blurred here

I would say 8 wins is a decent season with anything over that being very happy and anything under it a disappointment.

Going to get? I have no idea because I don't know the future. If I did I'd be extremely wealthy. Players I feel that ISU is likely to has a great chance of landing:
Mitchell Evans (TE)
Jaylin Noel (WR)
Aden Kelley (DT)

Players who I think they will be in the running for until the end:
TJ Bollers (DE)
Micah Pettus (OL)
Kyree Young (RB)
Marcus Mbow (OL)
And that kid from Iowa whose blown up recently, he's an OL
You want to start crossing these guys off the list or you want to wait until they make it official?

If CMC drops the ball with Bollers, he might not get any of them.

I didn't set a timeline, just used the one that someone else posted and said outright I don't think what was being called a "standard" is really what either program realistically would consider their "standard". If you think the post-Hoiberg standard for ISU is now set at a sweet 16, I feel for you. Going to be a lot of sad March nights from here on out. I could put you in touch with some of the guys on HR that think Iowa should be playing in NY6 bowls every year. Might share some coping strategies or hotline numbers with you.

At least Prohm got to finish his season this past year, so he has that going for him.

What do you mean “drops the ball?” It’s not like Bollers grew up in a Cyclone family with a dad who played for Iowa State and he didn’t include ISU in his top 5. Or grew up an Iowa fan with family ties to Iowa and was basically a shoe-in to Iowa and Fran dropped the ball.

Also, what would Bollers not committing to ISU have to do with any of the other recruits listed? Lol they’re not anxiously awaiting his decision and if he decides Wisconsin, the other recruits aren’t gonna say “welp, ISU is out of the running for me because they couldn’t land this one guy”

If we get him great, if not the sun will still rise tomorrow.

The link you posted earlier is to F+. I have no idea what that is. ESPN hired Connelly in 2019, so the SP+ ratings are hosted only on ESPN now. If you were looking at SP+ ratings on Football Outsiders, they were from 2018.
Wait wait wait... I found the statistics from ESPN you were looking at. Let me show you and everyone how fair this is.

Iowa top-40 defenses: ISU, Mich, PSU, Northwestern, Wisconsin, Minnesota

Iowa State top-40 defenses: Iowa, Baylor, TCU, OU, Notre Dame

Goodson stats:
ISU - 3 carries, 16 yards
Mich - 6 carries, 15 yards
PSU - 8 carries, 35 yards
Northwestern - 11 carries, 58 yards
Wisconsin - 5 carries, 26 yards
Minnesota - 13 carries, 94 yards

ypc - 5.3

Hall stats:
Iowa - 1 carry, 0 yards
TCU - 1 carry, 2 yards
Baylor - DNP
OU - 18 carries, 110 yards
Notre Dame - 17 carries, 55 yards

ypc - 4.5

So let me get this straight.. You're basing your argument off the fact that Goodson averaged more ypc against quality defenses, when in all reality, Hall essentially did not play in 3 of the games. Seriously? Lol

Jaylin Noel has a couple of crystal balls to Nebraska the last 24 hours. If he commits to Nebraska, that should take a little of the sting off from losing Johnson to Iowa.
