Terrific rebuttal
What are you talking about? I referenced a particular metric, and you apparently spent time researching an entirely different metric that nobody has ever heard of in an attempt to prove me wrong.

Terrific rebuttal
It really doesn't bother me who ISU land actually. Well Foster hurt, so I don't like ISU landing players that Iowa wanted. The fact is if ISU misses on Smith and lands someone else, you will brag it up like it is the second coming. That's fine, ISU is gonna get players, they can't all be terrible like Nixon and Jacobson, and all the guys that transferred out that were said were gonna be studs.
That literally is our stand. Fans expect and want Sweet 16 appearances. Just making it to the tournament doesn't cut it for the majority of fans. Not sure why you can't believe thatQuit pretending that ISU's basketball standard is sweet 16's. 2 out of the last 3 years ISU has been garbage and ISU fans would be ecstatic to be the #68 seed this year.
Well when you told an Iowa fan that he doesnt want ISU to get Smith, what were you talking about?

"The SP+ Ratings are a college football ratings system derived from both play-by-play and drive data from all 800+ of a season's FBS college football games (and 140,000+ plays). The components for SP+ reflect the components of four of what Bill Connelly has deemed the Five Factors of college football: efficiency, explosiveness, field position, and finishing drives. (A fifth factor, turnovers, is informed marginally by sack rates, the only quality-based statistic that has a consistent relationship with turnover margins.)"What are you talking about? Well if we're going to break down how bad Iowa State basketball is because we've had 2 out of 3 bad seasons, why can't we set our standard to be Sweet 16 since we've made two in the past 6 years? Yeah pretty dumb huh? lolSo going to 4 Sweet 16s in the past 30 years is ISU's standard?

That's the definition that website gives for SP+ rankings. You can click specific cell to rank the teams based entirely on that metric.

This is not the rating I used nor would use, and as good as some ratings can be, they all have their flaws.I think it is the best metric going right now, but obviously even it has its flaws as I think they still had OSU #1 after the season ended and LSU #2. That doesn't make any sense.

Both are really good young backs.I would take Hall over Goodson right now, but they both still have three years left to play and both have a lot of upside so we will see who will have the better career or even year next year.
Hey, it's not my standard.. As I said, my standard would be getting a solid seed in the NCAA tournament. Literally anything can happen when you get there and I'm not going to throw a great season out the door because App. State shot 85% from the 3 point line.Just think that if that is your standard, then you are failing miserably.
Fran gets a larger bonus for a conference tournament title than a Sweet 16, so there is some value in that you would think. So going to 4 Sweet 16s in the past 30 years is ISU's standard?
What would you say the standard is for Iowa football?Just think that if that is your standard, then you are failing miserably.
What would you say the standard is for Iowa football?
No who you were responding to, but I think we should narrow down what "standard" is here. If a Sweet 16 is the standard at ISU, having done that 4 times in 30 years (assuming that was correct), then Iowa's standard in football would obviously be a top 10 finish (5 times in 30 years). What would you say the standard is for Iowa football?
What would you say the standard is for Iowa football?
I didn't say it was the standard always did I? Fred had a ton of success when here. He won conference titles, competed with the best team in the league and took us to sweet 16's. He raised expectations. Understandable though how Hawks wouldn't get that as their standard seems to be just beat ISUSo going to 4 Sweet 16s in the past 30 years is ISU's standard?
The standard at Iowa is 7 wins. 8 earns a bonus. No who you were responding to, but I think we should narrow down what "standard" is here. More realistic, I'd say the standard would be 8 wins for Iowa Football. It's expected at this point, over that is a success, and under a disappointment.
