Iowa Football Recruiting

But generally last year Iowa struggle to score 27 points.

ISU 18
Mich. 3
Penn St. 12
NW 20
Wis. 22
Minn. 23
Ill. 19
Neb 27
Purdue 26.

The outliers was the USC game, most points all year at 49 and the cupcakes 38 & 48 along with Rutgers 30.
When the Iowa offense is running the ball well, it can be an efficient offense, but for years now, it has been anything but.
They rely on defense and not turning the ball over. I am really not sure just how well that would work in the Big 12 where teams are going to score points.

Iowa's running game has been brutal since Greene left basically

Basically Iowa has all this offensive talent but they just choose not to use it

More like Iowa plays the game where they don’t rely on one phase of the game or a few position groups to try and win with. Iowa’s strategy is to win with complementary football between Offense, Defense and Special Teams.

Come back and tell us how much better isu is when they do it their way and have consistently higher win totals than Iowa.

So you'll think they'll be worse this year without Haliburton but still win 15-17 games?
Had Iowa State had a winning record last year, we would've had to go 17-15. That puts us on the back end of the bubble. Tyrese not getting injured last year does not get us there, however I think we could've won 15 with Halliburton healthy.

Iowa would rather lean on a small, slow RB like Goodson for ball control instead of try to score points with their dangerous offense

isu would rather have self proclaimed awesome WR’s and RB’s and lose more games than try and win like Iowa.

What 3 games that Haliburton didnt play in do you win last year if he plays?

Florida A&M 68-70
At Oklahoma 61-90
At Kansas 71-91
Texas Tech 57-87
At Oklahoma State 61-73
West Virginia 71-77
At Kansas State 63-79

I think it's fair to say that Iowa State has had some very talented WR's and RB's while also admitting we wished we won more games.

This is all hypothetical because we did not play USC and we got handled by ND, but USC would've been a far better matchup for Iowa State last year. Iowa didn't need to knock out Slovis to win the game, even though doing so drastically helped their outcome. We have no idea who would've won that game had Slovis not gotten injured and we will never know. Iowa won the game and that's that.

Iowa State's play at the end of the year does not give me confidence they would've been able to beat the Trojans. No doubt we would've matched up better with them than the Irish, but that doesn't mean we would've won. It probably would've been a good game, however a good game doesn't equate to a W.
I think considering how both teams are constructed that Iowa vs Notre Dame and ISU vs USC would have created better matchups for both and therefore probably more competitive games.

Big 12 Tournament vs Oklahoma State and Florida A&M for sure. The rest is speculation

I don't think you realize how much Halliburton did for the team when he was on the floor lol. There are obvious games on that list that we would clearly not win but a few that I would have no doubt we could've won had he played.

Iowa loses if Slovis doesn't get hurt. Parker had no defense for his deep ball and Iowa couldn't run the ball to keep it away from him
