Iowa Football Recruiting

Busting a myth. Here is just the SOS of conference games played.

https://www.teamrankings.com/college-football/ranking/in-conference-sos-by-other

Wisconsin #4
Iowa #11
Northwestern #18
Nebraska #19
Finally the first Big12 team clocks in at #20 and that is OU
Baylor #24
Texas #25
Minnesota #27
ISU #28

So as you can see the Big10 West was clearly tougher last year with 4 schools having a conference SOS tougher than the toughest big12 schedule. Also pretty ironic that Twins calls Minnesota's schedule easy, yet it's conference slate was tougher than ISU's.

Looking back was interesting as well. 3 out of the last 5 years Iowa had the tougher conference SOS. This whole myth about the Big10 West is just that a myth. Iowa has a tougher conference SOS the majority of the time over the last 5 years.

Team rankings? Lol!

The pick and chooser comes through again. Pick and choose what SOS rankings count and which one’s don’t. The best is when clone fan says Sagarin SOS counts but you can’t use the Sagarin predictor to show isu would only win 7 games with Iowa’s schedule. I do love that Iowa would win 10 games with isu’s top 5 Sagarin SOS.

Is every Hawk fan named Jeff? Are you saying isu has won an outright conference title in football? That would be news.

no just you, Jeff. As pathetic creating another alt account to try to agree with yourself is, it’s like no more like 6th or 7th most pathetic you've ever done. giving up your kids and stuff, is in a category all of its own.

I see no difference at all. Both took a chance on a guy. I'm sure if Young wouldn't have towed the line, he would have been gone as well. Fran took a chance and the guy couldn't comply with simple easy rules. Iowa cut bait before he made more bad decisions that could have impacted others. Smart move by Iowa in that case.

I mean I at least hope that Young hans't made mistakes and CMC just keep giving him more rope. That is the worse case scenerio of all, you don't make them adhere to the rules. I'm sure the isn't the case with Young and CMC though.

So you see no difference between a person who abused his second chance and one who didn’t? Interesting take.

Keep posting your psychosis bodes well for the isu fan base.

says the guy that once told everyone the jwr in his screen name meant just winning regularly.

and that you were a project manager that lived in New York and flew in from the east coast to football games

Would you hold it against CMC if Young offends again and gets booted? I think the key is if you are coach you set rules and if they aren't followed you cut bait.

Plus it isn't like Hubbard did anything that would get a normal kid kicked off the team. He just had a much higher standard set for him as he was on his second chance.

You say that to every metric you didn't personally cherry pick. That has got to sting though that Iowa, Wisconsin, Nebraska, Northwestern and Minnesota all had tougher conference SOS than ISU. I'm not surprised you feel the need to discredit the metric, as it doesn't fit your cherry picked narrative.

The issue was not that Hubbard got a scholarship from Iowa. It was that Iowa fans comforted themselves with fred winning faster by using the famous players were thugs defense.

Everyone deserves a chance to redeem themselves, they also deserve to endure consequences for their actions.

Team rankings had Iowa State a top 25 team last year. It's not cherry picking, it's a garbage metric

You say Sagarin is a garbage basketball metric and you don't go by Sagarin ranking either, but you cling to the Sagarin SOS metric like it is gospel.

I don't use Sagarin for basketball because KenPom is better. Sagarin is the far and away the best metric for SOS in football though. Shockingly pretty much the entire world agrees with me

Do you get embarrassed about the hoops you have to jump through for your SOS troll going? It makes you look ridiculous, but it seems you are fine with that.

There were 5 metrics that were used to pick the national title game back in the day, Sagarins is easily the worse one of the bunch, but it still has value.

I do think that Campbell and Caponi are putting a portion of their credibility on the line by bringing in a guy like that. It’s the risk you take when you recruit a guy with a troubled past. It’s your responsibility as a coach to do your due diligence. I don’t think this is some crazy take lol.

Curious. Why does strength of schedule even matter? Is it simply a point to argue? Does it somehow make your life pertinent once you go to the great practice field in the sky?

I does matter to a point but in the end you play who is on your schedule. So it is what it is.

Honestly, who wins a college game doesn’t matter Outside of maybe those playing; but there are some people that seem to wrap up way too much of their personal worth and lives into a sporting event or two each year.
