I used to be one of those ISU fans making excuses every year for why we didn't do better, or why we lost to Iowa again, etc..... but it just got tiring, old, and lame.
Look at last year's ISU v. Iowa game for example. Initially I was like.... well ISU looked like the better team, won the game statistically, blah, blah, blah..... but you know what.... you didn't win the damn game, so none of that matters.
Like the saying goes.... you are what your record says you are. It's so true. Yeah, maybe we should have beaten Iowa last year, but guess what... we also should have lost to UNI. It all evens out, and in the end you are what your record says you are. If you want bragging rights over Iowa.... it's simple.... beat them for once. Iowa did what they had to do to win last year... that's just a mark of a good team. ISU needs to learn how to do that.
And the SOS argument is total BS. So tired of hearing it. What ISU faces each and every year is not much different at all than what Iowa does. I do think Iowa gets a bit lucky some years in not having to play the best B1G teams though, but it's still not a big difference from what ISU faces IMO. Now sure.... if you're comparing ISU's SOS to someone like Akron.... fine. That's a big deal. But not in comparing a B1G schedule to a Big 12 schedule.
I find Iowa football really boring to watch, although in the bowl game last year that was FAR from the case, which really scares me. But KF has known forever that what wins games has always been line play on both sides.... being able to run the ball, and stop the run on defense. It's not pretty, but it wins games. And as much as offenses have changed, it's still the case, and always will be. You need a good OL and DL. Name me a team that has had a lot of success without good line play?
