Iowa Football Recruiting

I know the strategy behind it, I get it. But there were years during Dan's tenure, Chiz's tenure, and Rhode's tenure that there was enough "momentum" building you'd think something would have been lined up for the future. It's not like after a 7 win season they'd expect they'd be right back to 3 wins and a new coach in 2 years.

It just honestly surprised me to see that stat, honestly thought it was hyperbole.
I think there was a small small window that might've lined up okay, possibly during the end of McCarney's tenure, but then again the schedules are usually set up years in advance, so I think we missed out. Right about now is when I'd start scheduling other P5 opponents. I do like that we got the home and home vs UNLV though. In two years we play them at the Raiders new stadium and that's pretty awesome.

West Virginia does strong non cons.
2020 Florida State Maryland
2021 Maryland VT
2022 Pitt VT
2023 Penn St Pitt
2024 Penn St Pitt

Teams are capable of doing it.

If the Raiders stadium is finished by then. ;)

Would be a cool trip for fans, can't say with where UNLV has been the last couple decades the game would interest me much as a fan, but would be a cool experience. Maybe they'll tack on a couple good seasons to make it more interesting.

Good excuse to go to Vegas for the weekend!

I love it too. When clone fans can’t handle the truth they choose to ignore it. Then they are so willing to tell people that they can’t handle the truth.

Good job Brandon. As cyclone4L says I will wear this as a badge of honor.

Well we all know what you don’t wear, Jeff.

anything that says proud dad

And if situations we flipped, you don't think that Iowa State fans would be all over us having a worse class than AAC schools?
Iowa State fans aren’t the one pounding their chest about a class that’s ranked 5th in their conference but claiming it’s the best in the Midwest, when they’re probably going to go 7-6 or 8-4 every year with said class.

Flat out lie.

Northwestern did just 2 years ago when they won the division.

Very few schools schedule 11 P5 opponents a year. There is zero advantage to it. No matter how much ISU fans like SOS, it doesn't get you to better bowl games or into the playoffs.

I honestly don't know why we're talking at all about ISU's class, which I haven't really looked at but I'm sure isn't that bad. Campbells a good coach who appears to identify talent just fine.

This thread is about the awesome class Iowa is putting together. Lets focus everyone. I'm really hoping we can talk the CB that decommited to come back and pick up his teammate along with him. Will be interesting to see how many decommits might happen, especially with guys that are further away form Iowa wanting to stay closer to home with COVID going on. Luckily, the state of Iowa appears to be loaded this year and the staff has absolutely killed it. Think many of those guys stay. Especially excited about Twedt, love the kid's athleticism. Very clear why he was a target for the instate schools.

Iowa would be #3 in the Big12. Would you be happy with ISU's recruiting if they were only behind the blue bloods in the conference?

That's because they've never been there. When you guys went 8-5, all I heard from Iowa State fans was that the programs were heading in different directions. Guarantee if I look back here, that's what it'll say.

But isu fans are the ones pounding their chest for going 8-5 and 7-6 as it that is suppose to impress anyone. See I don’t have to leave anything out with isu. 8-5 is the best you have with your coach. Iowa went 10-3 and 9-4 the last 2 years but you fly right past that. Just like you fly right past KF going 11-2 in his 4th year and being named the AP National Coach is the year.

Do you feel better when you pick and choose the years that should and shouldn’t count for Iowa?
