Iowa Football Recruiting

Since you seem to like average recruit rating as a way to measure recruiting classes, how does Iowa State stack up in the Big XII?
I’m not the one pounding my chest saying a teams ranking might be the best in the Midwest when in reality they’re 5th in their own conference, which is primarily a Midwest conference.

Yeah I think it would've been Florida State then. Not like Utah was any cupcake though.. They were a top-10 team I believe.
Utah at that time was similar to scheduling a Boise St or a BYU (maybe) now. Pretty high quality nonconf opponent. Probably better than a lot of P5 teams.

I think you and every other Iowa fan know that the current ISU program isn’t your dads ISU program. And while Kirk also started 0-4 against ISU, much like Campbell has vs Iowa, Iowa fans know Campbell’s time is coming and that has you worried. But, since Iowa got lucky last year, you feel like you need to get all your shots in now before the tides turn.

Also, now that everyone on the roster has been recruited by Campbell I expect the program to take an even bigger step forward which is why I think a lot of us clone fans are cautiously optimistic

CMC had nowhere near the 4th year Kirk had at Iowa. Yes USC beat the Hawks in the Orange Bowl but even though they lost 2 games that year, I am not sure USC wasn’t the best in 2002. I believe they would have beaten either Miami or Ohio State in the title game had they played. I say that as USC won the AP title the next year.

Had there been a 4 team playoff that year, that would have been it. And I believe USC would have dominated Ohio St.

They couldn’t even beat ISU that year yet you think they would have won the national championship?! Oh boy, you’ve really gone off the deep end.

Don’t let your delusion distract you from the fact that Ferentz started 0-4 vs ISU. Not surprised that you’re grasping at straws and trying to move the goalposts tho, it’s what you do best

Yeah I honestly don't care whether Iowa or Iowa State schedules a P5 non-con other than each other. The SEC gets 4 non-con games per year and a lot only schedule 1 P5 school.

Congrats on getting the slight edge on Kansas! You're now second to last in the Big 12. We'd be sitting at #3 in the Big 12.
Again, I’m not the one pounding my chest. But you Iowa fans love to take any little W you can and anytime you take the slightest L, y’all get worked the F up and it’s hilarious. I never thought another team wearing a color would rile up an entire fan base like it has

The SEC has been getting away with playing 1 less P5 opponent for a few years but is unlikely to change. Playing 9 conference games would make the most sense but then a lot of them would still probably schedule 3 cupcakes.

Try reading, I said USC would have won the title that year. Just like they won the AP title the following year in 2003.

Your an idiot. He said USC would have won the title. Maybe read it through before making a statement.

You do know he is talking about USC and not Iowa right? USC would have won

Iowa would not have been in based on the BCS standings as of after conference title games.

It would been Miami, OSU, Georgia and USC.

There would have been an argument to include Iowa if it was the CFP format of a human selection committee. That would have been interesting.

First of all, you can't compare years to determine who's a better coach. Each coach is going into a completely different situation from the other and takes a different amount of time to get their program up and running. At this point in time, Kirk Ferentz is a better coach than Coach Campbell, and to any Iowa State fan that thinks that's a slight.. get a grip lol. Kirk Ferentz is most likely going to go into the CFB Hall of Fame.

Also, USC was not the best in 2002. USC didn't even win their conference outright and had two regular season losses compared to Miami and Ohio State who were both undefeated. Miami was on a 34 game winning streak that ended up being broken. Saying you think USC was better simply because they won the AP Title the following year is ridiculous lol it's literally the year after!
