Had a spirited debate with the 10 year old on this topic last night. The better character on MASH?

Col Potter or Col Blake?
BJ or Trapper John?
Radar or Klinger?
Mai Burns or Maj Winchester?

The obvious right answers are Blake, Trapper, Radar, and Burns.

Those are obvious for anyone who's seen the movie, those are the originals. I love the movie, those are the ones I'd go with as well.

That said, Potter, Honeycutt, and Major Winchester were great characters. Wasn't a huge fan of Klinger.
 
All great characters. Just the early ones were even greater. And the scripts were so good. The latter episodes seemed to be working too hard for every possible joke.

I got real tired of BJ. Peg this and Peg that....too whiney for me.

Funny - because to me, the obvious answers are Potter, BJ, Klinger & Winchester! :D
 
Most overrated show ever. Hated when grandpa was always watching Mash and wouldn’t let me watch A Team.

The movie had freedom to do some things that the show didn't...and played more for the comedy aspect. The show delved into social issues as a front for Hawkeye's pacifist leanings, and built more on that side of him than the Hawkeye/Trapper road show that was the movie.

Agree. Mostly agreed with them but it could still get a bit preachy.

Radar was awesome. Also the only character played by the same actor in both the movie and the TV show.
 
I think a point that's been overlooked in this thread is... kudos to @dosry5 for having a 10-year-old who's into M*A*S*H*. That's impressive.
