Iowa Football Recruiting

Llewellyn and Pittman are the only guys that had their ratings change I believe. Davidkov, Colby, and DeJean all moved up a few spots in 247’s own rankings - Davidkov now the #56 overall recruit, Colby #139, and DeJean #142.

I really like Llewellyn’s film on defense. He’s going to be a stud. Iowa’s OL and DL recruiting this cycle is phenomenal.

OL recruiting has been excellent and I would put WR and DL in the next tier as far as position groups go for the 2021 class.

OK. Nixon will be?
Never said he would be. I think he will be good, possibly a first round pick if he gets better over the next 2 years. Purdy will not be a first round pick and I don’t know if any Hawkeyes will be either this year.

Yes, that sucks.

Man look at your take on him and Ojemudia

Hankins was pretty good at the end of the year. Gave up a TD against Purdue, but it was well played and took a perfectly thrown ball to beat coverage. Then started against Nebraska IIRC and did an excellent job covering Nebraska’s receivers, who are/were really good. He is Iowa’s #1 IMO. OJ was meh last year.

I’m hoping D.J. Johnson is able to come in and take over the #2 corner spot early (like King did as a freshman). Hankins + Johnson would be a young and inexperienced pair of corners, but incredibly talented. Strong safety play and a strong pass rush should help significantly.

Yeah a lot of us were. He could have been a very good CB, possibly one of Phil Parker’s best if he had stayed.

He was behind Brents, Hankins and Moss at corner and behind Belton at Cash.

Brents and Belton are sophomores, same as Johnson, and Moss is a junior so he probably had an uphill climb to get a lot of playing time.

All of these guys except Moss are sophomores which is the same as Johnson so he probably had an uphill climb to get a lot of playing time.

Moss sucks. He was worse than him? Probably a good thing he left then

There is usually a lot of attrition at DB for Iowa. I am not worried about it, but it does hurt the depth.

Why is there so much attrition at that position? Parker not liked by players?

Iowa's lack of depth was an excuse used by Hawkeye fans in the Iowa State game

Don't know, that's why I asked.
Looks like post 1995 or somewhere in that range so here’s the ones I could find
- Jerry Claiborne VT 1999 .591
- Carmen Cozza Yale 2002 .599
- Hayden Fry Iowa 2003 .564
- Marcelino Huerta Wichita State 2002 .589
- Willies Jeffries Wichita State 2010 .587
- Grant Teaff Baylor 2001 .529
- George Welsh Virginia 2004 .588
Just some that I found

I cannot answer those questions, but Iowa does have a lot of recruits at the DB position and usually has good walk ons for safeties. We have taken 3 DBs a year on average. I can see why he would leave if he wants more playing time.
