Iowa Football Recruiting

Thanks, I will be sure to take everything he says going forward with a large grain of salt.

Am I reading that right, ISU has the following already committed in their 2021 class?

A potential All-American and fringe Hesiman candidate at QB.

A potential All-Conference player at RB.

2 potential starters at WR.

A potential starter at OL.

A potential All-Conference player at DT.

A potential All-Conferece player at S.

A potential All-Conference player at CB.

And that is only the guys he has had time to break down?

Look at what he did to Epenesa. Epenesa was stronger and MUCH faster when he came to Iowa than what he left

Eppy will do great in NFL. Back to my question though, can you tabulate total number of Iowa players drafted under Doyle? And just for fun, can you compare that number to the TOTAL number of clone players drafted in their entire history?

You can't deny he cost Epenesa millions of dollars

Are you arguing Doyle is good at preparing players for the NFL or good at preparing them to average 7 wins per season? Huge difference

He's also a big fan of Nate Stanley, so he's got that going for him. Sounds like he'd take him over Mahomes, which I think is bold.

DLC led his team to a 2-8 record for his senior season. In QB's, wins are the biggest statistic.

Hawk fan here. Stopped over to see if there was any news about bollers and ISU. Saw this thread and have been getting plenty of giggles out of it. To be honest with Covid and the high rate of kids accepting offers so early the end of this recruiting cycle is going to be very volatile for everyone. Outside of the instate recruits i think everyone's commits at this time are about as solid as butter that's been sitting out. To discuss recruiting rankings at this point is simply just killing time. I do think Iowa is obviously in a much better position right now because of the strong list of instate commits. Committable offers are a real thing and a lot of the big boys aren't quite ready to extend that offer to there 3rd or 4th option yet. It could be a really wild ride at the end for every school if they don't allow visits until really late. NIL will also start playing a big part once coaches can meet face to face.

Also i really enjoy Twins's comments. Honestly i would say every 3 out 5 points aren't too terrible of takes....but when he's out there he's really out there....like picking an argument about doyle...come on now...be better...
I don't think Twins was saying Doyle is bad.. He was saying Doyle isn't the best S&C in the country. He's certainly up there, but I'm sure you could make the case for a few other guys as well.

Which is it, P5 offers or ratings?

The goalposts have moved so many times I am losing track.

When these kids with zero/few P5 offers stop pumping out all-conference seasons or only win 3-4 games I’ll be concerned.

I have been on here since 2018, and I didn't criticize the 18, 19, or 20 classes. If you can't see the difference between those classes and this current one it is only because you are choosing not to see it. You can call me a troll for pointing out the obvious, but many ISU fans are concerned about the lack of getting in state kids in a very deep in state class, as well as overall how the class looks so far.

So if we get Bollers, will that count as getting an in-state kid? Or does it only count if Iowa was in the running for the kid?

Doyle is for sure one of the best in his division I'll give him that. The fact is Iowa's averaged 7 wins per season under him and the NFL thing is kind of weird timing with the Epenesa situation

To say he's the best in the business is laughable. Galt, Balis, Andrews, Batson, Marotti, Cochran, Herbert, Wylie, etc are all better

Iowa officially full on the DL now. I think you still have to make room for Benny if he wants in, but it seems unlikely he chooses Iowa at this point.

It counts as an in state kid, so does Bonifas and Moore, not sure why you would think I would say different? I think what people mean is there is a deep list of IA HS kids who have multiple D1 offers, and so far ISU is striking out on the vast majority of them.

Huh?? He made Epenesa a lot of money. Only 50% of five star recruits get drafted at all let alone second round.

Epenesa was a 4.7 guy when he came to Iowa and was actually stronger coming in than when he left. He left and couldn't even run under a 5 sec 40. That's insane

And he still beat the odds and became a 2nd round pick. Amazing!

I'm not here to argue is who the best in the country.....but to compare him to strength coaches at Alabama, Ohio State, and Clemson is completely apples to oranges. I'm pretty sure you could show up at strength coach at any one of those schools and still be considered one of the best in the country based on results. They are getting 5 star kids who are physically ready day 1.

It's easy to cherry pick the Eppy situation and bottom line is while being a great player for iowa he was never an explosive athlete. He has incredibly strong hands and used his length well to get pressure. Physically he was always suited better inside.

No Doyle can not fit a square peg into a round hole...but his track record with developing players who are physically ready is there.

Link to Epenesa running a 4.7 laser-timed 40 and benching more than 17 reps of 225 pounds in high school?

Oh the old "good coaches get good jobs so we can't compare them" argument
