Iowa Football Recruiting

Then go tell CyTwins his merry band of followers that the Super Bowl excuse is bunk. Just like it was bunk when Iowa fans said it.
The game and rivalry matters to both teams, coaching rooms, and fanbases. Simple as that. Hate it when I hear one side say it doesn't matter to them (usually comes from hawks).

..... This was literally Iowa fan's response to why McCarney and Rhoads' teams beat the hawks... No one saying that about CMC
If we're being honest, I've seen quite a few ISU fan's that have admitted in recent years that McCarney treated the game like a Super Bowl. I think Chizik and Rhoads (to a lesser extent) went away from that, but the legend had been born. I don't see it at all in Campbell, he seems to approach the game at a healthy rivalry level, far from the extent Dan (and a small part of Rhoads) did. Just my opinion with a few anecdotal comments I've seen on this site in recent years thrown in.

I have only seen this from isu fans for a while now. For me it started in 1977 when isu pulled out the “Beat Iowa” jerseys.

It's your Super Bowl. I'm not expecting to win

And if not that the weather, and if not that the refs, and if not that it's Big 12 conspiracy, and if not that it's COVID-19 prevented spring practice, and if not that its Purdy had hangnail and his hair hurt before the game.....?

Some kind of pathetic right there. But we all know how it works for you.

I feel super concerned for you. If Iowa State wins this year, what will you talk about here? You are only capable of talking about SOS and that isu should change their strategy to passing on higher rated recruits so you can beat us with them. Get some help man

That ship sailed a long long time ago for Jeff.

you’re talking to a guy that was given an ultimatum. Stop trolling on websites, or his then wife was going to take the kids and leave.

you see where he is now.

Agreed with the differences of McCarney and CMC. Think a lot of that has to do with Mac being an IC native and Iowa player/coach. CMC has no ties to the state before ISU. Seems like your offensive coordinator is the one now that treats this like a super bowl in regards to how he talks about ISU in the media.

I think that type of stuff is healthy. It's one of the greatest rivalries in college football and I think there should be mutual hate on both sides. Neither team is too 'cool' or 'important' to care about this game. That's just what bugs me when I hear Hawks talk about how they'd be better off if UI scheduled some SEC team instead of ISU for non-con.

Psstttt... He doesn't actually believe that. He does it because for every one time he says it he gets 5-10 responses back about it. Williams gets site visits and Twins gets bitcoin that he spends at Ossy's in Carroll.

You're welcome.

The Iowa game was 100% treated as our Super Bowl under McCarney and that’s an undeniable fact. Since him though not so much.

Agree with pretty much everything but the OC part. While I can see where ISU fans might think that, the connections I do have to the program (trust me, nothing to brag about) strongly hint it's directed as much or more towards certain team further west, north, and northeast. Special emphasis to the far western folks. Just what I've been told.

I wouldn't be surprised. It's difficult to replace 5 NFL draft picks and not take a step back early in the next season.
In all honesty, QB is the most important position on the field. Our advantage there next year is going to be HUGE. That's not a troll, we have a great QB, and your guy will be playing in his 2nd game. Nothing surprises me in this game though.
