Iowa Football Recruiting

Yeah sounds like MC takes a hard line against his guys and theft.

No realistic Iowa State fan is going to argue that we have a harder schedule this year. BUT, that does not exempt you from getting s*** about only having to play the best teams in your league every three years. You'll get pounded this year and will end up, IMO, with a less than desirable record after a 10 win season. Take the good with the bad and move on.

I think Iowa State will have a tougher SOS this upcoming year actually. Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Texas will be all be ranked for sure going into this season. Baylor might be too. Kansas State and TCU probably receiving votes

I think that's pretty optimistic. Yes Iowa State will play a more difficult schedule but we return almost all of our defense and the three best offensive skill players in the state in Purdy, Hall and Kolar

Another day another SOS post.

I don’t think isu will have a more difficult schedule than Iowa this fall with what Ohio State, Penn State, Wisconsin and Minnesota are going to be.

Of course if Iowa wins 10 games again and isu only wins 7 that may make it close though.

So you’re happy with that? I thought Campbell was taking ISU to the next level? He has, without question, brought ISU to a higher level than it previously was. However, he seems to be stuck there. His record isn’t improving, seems to be stagnant.

I only have access to Rivals rankings, but his best class was his first. When is this next step going to happen? When is he going to compete for a conference title, and no, three games out doesn’t count.
His best class definitely was not his first. They’ve all been solid, but the 2016 class wasn’t the best.

In 2018, ISU was right in the race to play in the Big 12 championship game and definitely was not out of it by “3 games”.

In 2019, the core of the team were underclassmen. I expect ISU to win more than 7 games this year.

He’s going into his fifth year at ISU. How can you say he is stagnant? A bit premature.

Key word is "realistic". I think the ceiling for the Hawks will be 8 wins this year. The early departures and a new starting QB are not ideal for that schedule. Can't control the schedule and at least the BIG 10 is playing 9 conf games. The ACC and SEC are who should be getting dumped on for the 8 game schedules. Hawks have been locked in with Penn St every year and most years will get either Mich or OSU.

I was going purely off recruiting rankings to show he doesn’t seem to be recruiting better. 8-5, 8-5, 7-6 is the definition of stagnant.

Another day and another worthless poster. Moving the goal post on 4 conference games. Oooooo... you have to play PSU Wisconsin, Minnesota, and mighty OSU. The Big 10 is what it is and the Big 12 is what it is. Hard to compare conferences every year when you have 14 schools in one and 10 in the Big 12. Once conference plays every team every year. The other conference plays around OSU every year. I guess you shouldn't expect to play for an national title anytime soon with Kirk "average Joe" Ferentz at the helm.

According to Stewart Mandel The Big 12 has OU Ranked #6, Texas #14 and OSU #18. The Big Ten has Ohio State #3, Penn State #7, Wisconsin #11, Minnesota #17 and Iowa #19.

Like I said if Iowa wins 10 games and isu wins only 7 SOS might be close, otherwise clone fans’ cherished SOS will be for Iowa.

With clone fans being ecstatic with winning 7-8 games a year do you love knowing the Alamo Bowl is isu’s ceiling?

You aren’t going off of recruiting rankings.

So 8-8-7

Kirk has had runs in wins of 7-6-6, and another of 8-7-4-8-7

Did you consider that stagnant at the time?

Certainly. But we aren’t talking Iowa here. I’ve read on this board for two years about Campbell taking the "next step" in recruiting and wins. Not seeing it. Maybe this will be the year. Maybe not.

As Bill Parcells said, "you are what your record says you are". Right now, ISU is a mediocre program.

So North Dakota State is a better football program than Iowa?

So you are basing recruiting strictly on how they are rated by recruiting services and not how they perform on the field? Noted.

Most definitely ISU is mediocre right now, who is stating otherwise (other than in the Iowa trolls minds that keeps them fighting the good fight)?

I’ve never seen a mediocre program live rent free in another fan bases mind like ISU lives in Iowa’s.
