Iowa Football Recruiting

Never did I act like that was a win even in the slightest. I feel bad for the kid really. He obviously really wanted to go to Iowa State seeing how we were still in the running even though he wanted to play defense but we weren’t offering that that to him. He made the best choice for him which was to go to his second choice school which offered him to play the side of the ball he wanted. No big deal. In reality, silly Campbell didn’t offer him at defense as well
Sounds similar to the Brock and Hall situations. Iowa got their guy in Goodson and told Brock he could still come play defense for them. He really wanted to play running back. Feel bad that he couldn't go to the school that he wanted. I know Hall called KF to see if he was still had an offer at running back after not getting his Oklahoma offer. Sucks he had to take his third choice of schools, but that's the world we live in. Just unfortunate they have to play for a team with a 7-6 ceiling. Feel really bad for those ones.

How much of a stud is Brock if Iowa wanted to take him on defense?

What does account creation date have to do with posts and threads that existed previously? This thread goes back years. Looking at the last month or so isn’t that hard.

Like heck it isn’t. A month is probably 750 posts on this. If I don’t look for 3 days, there are like 10 pages that I’m behind so I just skip them. Just admit you are a retread.

Well I see I replied to something from the morning and the bottom days 303 more posts. So you must have read about 1500 from the last month.

Iowa could certainly have use Purdy! I will go on record and say I like Stanley for his leadership and game manager mentality, but Purdy is in the mold of Drew Tate and I want that more. Especially in the way the QB position is turning into. Purdy will be a round 2-4 pick depending on this next year and if he has a big year and goes pro could go round 1. Once he wins the big games and takes ISU to 9-10 wins he is gone. He is a great QB but needs to just not be timid and play with some more swagger. I really like his game. I think Petras/ Padilla/ and Hogan are a step up in moxy from Stanley. I like the consistency from Nate, but that PSU game @ PSU is a memory I will never forget. And he could never beat Wisky like he needed to. He will be a good backup QB in the NFL but will never be a starter.

Yeah, playing the awful defending West champions with the worst offense the P5 has seen in decades had nothing to do with it.

You guys almost lost to Kansas and 8/10 of your league was complete dog crap this year. You really shouldn’t go down that road, but I digress.

Back to the topic - ISU wasn’t a top 30 team - Iowa was - so because of that, Iowa faced one fewer top 30 than ISU. If you want to call it having a tougher schedule, fine, but I’ll be justified in stating that ISU always plays a tough schedule because you’re always handing your opponents wins

LOL. Your reigning champs were setting records, in a bad way.
Run along now.

'Atta boy. I know how brutal things have been. Hope, is a good thing.

This isn’t Stanley related but I think the Chiefs success is the tipping point for the drop back QB. Over the previous 3 drafts you have seen a pretty even split of spread QBs and Pro Style QBs get drafted in the first 2 rounds (where you are looking for starting QBs) but this draft after the Chiefs super bowl you are see 5 QBs go in the first 2 rounds and they were all spread QBs. It’s a copycat league and the Chiefs and Ravens look prepped to be a success for a while and the last few pro style QBs drafted highly (Darnold, Rosen, Jones) haven’t underwhelmed so far.

Mahomes and Jackson are completely different QBs. Jackson had a good year, but is 1 hit to the knees away from being below average. I think the most common comparison to Purdy is Brees. But that is some big shoes to fill. Purdy does not play with that moxy yet. He needs to do that this year. take ISU to 10-2 and a Big 6 bowl and get to or extremely close to the Big12 title game. He should be able to get to it with the roster. A good to above average defense, good rbs, really good TE, above average WRs that should take the next step..... It all boils down to the OL.

This post is not bad.

I hope I never see D*uche Hogan play a down as a Hok. He's as smug as they come.

why? I think he is a great rep for Iowa. Purdy is also a great rep for ISU. Iowa has a loaded QB room but not proven. Hoping that Petras is that next level QB. Who after Brock is that for ISU?

Also, I think that Iowa should give DeJean a shot at QB. The kid is insane at being a Dual threat QB

IDK, Dekkers is good, but is he the spread type QB for D1? I think of him as a LB/ S type. him and DeJean are of the same mold, but DeJean is a little faster. I hope Dekkers does great at ISU. needs to represent what NW Iowa football is all about

I’d say yes that he is a spread QB. That’s his background, even though it was small town Iowa football.

He’s a big, tough kid too.

So you make up a story about every Iowa recruit.....jealous much?

I agree with everything you said. My post wasn’t really related to either Iowa QB just the NFL as a whole.
