Iowa Football Recruiting

When you can’t refute facts, resort to calling people names. Nice.

I take that a compliment from a guy who is affiliated with an offense optional conference.

ISM had 30 more catches, 600 more yards, 3 more TDs, averaged 10 yards per carry, and averaged more yards per reception than Shaw, and he managed to do all this while playing in Iowa's boring run-first offensive scheme... and you think Shaw's better.

Now that's funny.

Yep, when you are on a team with so many weapons; Pettaway, Jones, Milton, Kolar, Allen, Soehner; it is hard to get a boatload of receptions. S/M was on a team with limited receivers so he didn't have to split reps.

Yeah but you're the one who said that Baylor, Texas, and Okie St.'s WRs last year were as good as Minnesota's.

OSU- had the best WR of either team.
Texas- had the best WR of either team and several other good ones.
Baylor- Deeper than Minnesota at WR and the numbers support that.

It’s really not that crazy.

Even if I called Minne’s 2 WR’s the best of any, those other teams had deeper groups.

Iowa fans think they return a bunch at WR but then forget we recruit the position significantly better, no WR on their roster had more yards than Milton and no WR on their roster had more TDs than Shaw last year

MINNESOTA WRs
Bateman - 3rd team All-American, 1st team All-B1G, 60 catches, 1,219 yards, 11 TDs
Johnson - 1st team All-B1G, 86 catches, 1,318 yards, 13 TDs

BAYLOR WRs
Mims - 1st team All-Big 12, 66 catches, 1,020 yards, 12 TDs
Thorton - Zero accolades, 45 catches, 782 yards, 5 TDs

But Baylor's WRs were as good, and the numbers prove it. Sure, makes sense.

Duvernay is the only one who may have been the best of all of them, but Bateman was voted an All-American and Duvernay wasn't, so. Either way, neither Texas nor Okie St. (nor Baylor, sorry) had a 1-2 punch at WR even close to the Goophers.

I just hope Brandon Smith is able to stay healthy all year. Dude is an animal and was really starting to turn it on before he got hurt last year. Easily the best receiver at making contested catches Iowa has had since McNutt, though that’s not exactly a high bar.

The WRs under Ferentz have been big doo doo aside from the DJK McNutt years but any ISU fan that say Iowas WRs suck are trolling or just didn't watch them last year. They're not elite but they have some players. For the first time in awhile i'd rather have what Iowa returns than what we do.
