Iowa Football Recruiting

I'm aware of that. Hearing Iowa is the current leader. Believe what you want. Not saying it's a done deal or anything but most thought it was a done deal to Nebraska it's definitely not. Let's just say that George Kittle is a pretty good recruiting tool for the Hawks at this point.
I understand what Iowa’s 247 guys think (that Iowa is the slight leader, as they always do), but he will be a Husker.

Just your hunch? Maybe you know him or something? I don't know the kid or his family but heard from someone who does that he is leaning Iowa. Not pretending it's a slam dunk or anything.

Yeah I'd love to land Fidone but I don't see it happening. The depth of young talent at TE on our roster is pretty sick... LaPorta. Miamen, Yelverton, Lachey. He'd probably step in on day 1 at Nebby and be the guy.
I've thought the same thing all along and just figured he was a total long shot.

Family friend who is tied with Lewis Central on the AAU side of basketball.

He’s a heavy Nebraska lean.

LaPorta looks like a good young player.

Tough to hang your hat on 3 others that have never played, especially thinking they’d be better than a borderline 5 star TE.

think you'll land him and Bollers both?

No. I think Iowa State gets Bollers and Fidone isn't staying in state. Throw on some film of Charlie Kolar though and see show him what one school is currently doing with a TE vs busting out old film of George Kittle lol

You could say the same about Fidone, couldn't you? I'd think the same principle would apply. Like I said I'd love to land him. But those other 3 guys had crazy offer lists themselves, and will have already had time in the system. Not saying it'd be impossible for TF to come in and emerge as a top guy early on, just saying it's not that likely, especially with LaPorta looking like the next Hockenson and so much young talent stacked behind him for the 2nd spot. TEs at Iowa also don't play until they can block to KF's standards. He kept CJF, an NFL-caliber TE, on the bench until he learned how to block. That's not going to happen at Nebby. The guy is a lifelong Husker fan, lives not far from Lincoln, and would have a much cleaner path to playing time. That's going to be tough for Iowa to beat.

LOL. stop it you're killing me. LOL

It's a tough argument. My dad agrees with you. I still say Hayden.

Loved Hayden, but Evashevski has done two things no other Iowa coach has ever done. Win a rose bowl and a national title. That is the gold standard. I would put Hayden and Howard Jones either second or third with KF in fourth place.

so what are you saying will be Campbells limit here? we have ended up 3rd or tied for 3rd the last 2 seasons in the conference with a legit shot at 1st or 2nd each of those seasons if things had bounced a little differently. The national expectations keep rising for ISU with Campbell at the helm. Meanwhile everyone knows what Iowa is for the last 20+years, where you might have a lucky year or two with a soft Big10 schedule, but other wise hit the average of 7.5 wins a year for Ferentz over his career.

LOL, ISU only had a "legit shot" at 2nd place before the season began and only in the minds of Clone fans.

Kirk Ferentz replaced the best coach in Iowa football history and as another poster pointed out had quite a bit of NFL talent on the roster. Matt Campbell replaced Paul Rhoads. Lol cmon

Prohm replaced the best coach in ISU basketball history (no other ISU coach made 4 NCAA tournaments in a row, and 4 in their first 5 years coaching). Prohm had a couple good years with Fred's players, but has run the program into the ground after they left. It ain't easy following a legend.

So Kirk Ferentz = Paul Rhoads = Fred Hoiberg?
