Iowa Football Recruiting

Sagarin is the best source out there for SOS. Massey (even though even that nonsense site recognizes Iowa State's schedule as more difficult than your cupcake one) is a joke

There have been several studies examining predictive modeling retrospectively and demonstrating that Massey has the best year to year track record.

Even setting that aside, both models rank teams aside from W/L record. Both services had Iowa finishing #14 in the country while both had ISU at #28.

SOS is not your issue.

Nobody is talking predictive modeling. We're talking about final results

It's been well published that Iowa walked away from Bollers. (Read: "T.J Bollers Unsure Where He Stands WIth Iowa Football Program" by Tyler Devine).

Bollers stated that he was "confused by the lack of communication and that he is waiting to see if Iowa reestablishes a steady line of communication."

He also is quoted stating the following: "there are other places that are putting in effort to come and see me and make it to my basketball games instead of saying they would and never coming."

The reasons why Iowa walked away are unclear and only speculative but it is a certainty that Iowa moved on before TJ did.

Second to perhaps only offensive line, defensive end is more than in good shape for the next few years. In 2020, they got Deontae Craig, who had offers from OSU, ND and Mich.

They have a current top 100 player in Graves committed to 2022. Yahya Black was rated as a 90 grade, 4 star by 247 and Bowie is a high three star.

Bollers would have been a nice luxury to have, he's certainly not a can't miss prospect given the incoming position depth. He's also probably correct that he's a better fit for a 3-4 OLB.

Fantastic!

read the 247 scouting report on him. very impressive.

Funny how the recruit with no other P5 offers is worthy of excitement/bragging when he's going to iowa, yet the same no offer players are worthy of ridicule if they are going to ISU. What's the difference? One person at 24/7 fell in love with him? You guys are f'ing hypocrites.

Forgive us if we defer to the scouting of the staff that's had 4 of the last 9 Big 10 defensive backs of the year, including two Thorpe finalists, has 6 active NFL DBs and will add 2 more this year.

Now do WR's and RB's!
Both Hakeem and Montgomery didn't have any P5 offers and yet were both top-5 / top-10 at their positions in college and left as juniors but sure, Campbell just doesn't know how to develop guys right?

You didn't do what I asked

Because it's totally irrelevant to a discussion about a recruit who plays safety.

Sad when you are limited to finding two positions to justify Campbell's player development. Maybe in this draft you can call yourself long snapper U. Never mind, Iowa already has a pro bowler at that position too.

Kirk has been at Iowa for 20 years compared to Matt Campbell being at Iowa State for 4.. Yeah, Kirk's bound to have put in a variety of players into the NFL by now.

Well it's weird you trust your coaches judgement on defensive backs because of the accolades but then you still trust your coaches judgement on WR's and RB's when they're not good at recruiting those positions. You can't have it both ways

Again where did I ever mention anything about a particular WR or RB recruit? You're putting words in my mouth to fit a very narrow argument.

Indiana has more meaningful RBs in the NFL than ISU and I have yet to see Bill Polian, Bill Belichick or Bill Parcells praise Indiana as an NFL developmental program. Your point makes little sense.

So you don't trust your coaches judgement on WR's and RB's. Gotcha. That's all you had to say

Kirk's 4th draft class looked like this.

Dallas Clark 1st round
Eric Steinbach 2nd round
Bruce Nelson 2nd round
Derek Pagel 5th round
Ben Sobieski 5th round

What's Matt's excuse?
