Garza declares for the NBA

He has no shot to make a team next year. If he can develop foot speed then maybe he can work his way into a team. But waiting another year before getting setup with a team to start this training would lessen those odds of happening. This is the only reason for him to leave.

Good player and good for him if he gets drafted. Also don't want to face him next year...

While funny, I do think Iowa is still a bubble team without him next year. They'll be a nightmare defensively though, and not a lot of inside presence. They still have some offensive firepower though, as long as Weezy snaps out of whatever's been bothering him.

Personally I think Garza made those guys look better than they are. With no inside threat you can really pressure Joe W., CJ, Connor, etc. and I just wouldn't trust their playmaking ability.

Great college player, but I don't see him getting drafted or making an NBA team. Game is too fast.
I used to think that, then I saw Nikola Jokic dominate the league. There are still plenty of slow footed centers in the NBA. They need passing and shooting skills though, which Garza has.

Nor would I. But they can all shoot, and Joe can create offense for himself, maybe for others too. I don't think they'll be great by any means, but probably not bottom of the barrel Big 10 either. Lack of post presence would be concerning for them, I agree. I'll admit I don't even know who their post player would be if Garza left. No Kriener anymore, and Pemsl too.

Who knows. What I see is good shooters who got open shots because of Garza. Next year? Not so sure.

Joe struggled a ton on trying to create shots on his own.

Jokic dominates because he can pass

I hope you're right. I'm just trying to play devils advocate if Garza leaves and they still end up having a better year than us next year. Probably all a moot point as Garza will probably still be around

He certainly did down the stretch, where he wasn't much good at anything. But I've seen him capable of taking it to the rack from time to time. If Garza is gone, it will be his team. Put up or shut up time for him.

To be fair I wouldn't want to be using "having a better year than us" as any measure of success...

Garza knows he isn't a 1st rd kid no matter when he goes...but my guess is he goes thru draft. THe question is does a team take him mid to late 2nd rd? Im guessing a team will take a flier on him..Depends on draft and who has what picks in 2nd rd and needs..

Never a better time to enter NBA draft that's for sure.

I imagine all it would take is for Frank to see some dollar signs and Luka would be gone. I imagine he will be pretty heavily involved in any decision.

welp, now hok fans have a built in excuse for when they lose to us next year :-)

A prospects dad heavily involved in his kids decision to stay in the draft or return to college? Why would that be abnormal?

I hope he wows them and gets drafted, best thing that could happen to ISU.

The kid is right on the line, very good player, but is he good enough to play in the NBA, but how does another year in college really help him? But this years crop is not a strong group, so his value may never be higher than what it is right now.

The NBA loves them young, the longer you wait, the further you fall in the draft. Now if they think he has no chance, totally different story.

That is fair, and I certainly agree it isn't a good measure of success. But the Hok trolls sure like to use it as their barometer.

Some of you don't get it..There is not staying in draft or not staying draft...He can go thru entire draft and if he's not drafted he can return to Iowa. If he's drafted he's gone..
