a friend did a poll on "what have you learned so far" and mine was "how little I went out before" lol

though I will say this has NOT made me think my house is too small. Nope nope nope.

Yep. I'm sitting around thinking it sure would be nice to have a gameroom right now. And maybe a backyard pool if this thing drags into summer!

Yeah I think I'm in agreement for most of your standpoint. I would not like if Iowa would mandate not allowing people to go outside and visit their loved ones. I have no idea if we would implement a stay at home if it would be to that extent. If it would be, that'd be incredibly tough. A problem I see not only from my workplace but for others on here and those that are talking via social media, there are a lot of companies who are risking their employees health as well as their family's health by not cracking down and doing the right thing.

Like I said, the only way my company and companies like mine would do such a thing would be if there were a mandate from Reynolds.
Which is why I support a crackdown on companies from Reynolds but don’t support a stay at home because I don’t see how a stay at home doesn’t do the things I listed. For example there are states as far as I know that have “stay at home” orders that aren’t really stay at home orders. I think Iowa is following a more traditional definition of that.

Yeah isolation is fine with me. My issue is it's hard not to get caught up in how awful this all is or could be and I'm having to realistically accept that there's people that are the most important, that I may never see again.

I'm more in line with the idea that people value smaller houses, lower mortgages, etc. Stuff that allows them to save in case of a needed cushion. Probably not likely, but one can dream.

I don't own but it seems like many I know that do, has a house much too big for what they need, and they feel obligated to fill with needless things. A kitchen doesn't need 10 cabinets, for example.

I’ve had a weird heavy chest feeling for several days. It’s likely just anxiety since we are living in crazy times but then you read about someone who tested positive and there is a person who tested positive with only a heavy chest feeling and you wonder.
Same. It has come and go for about 10 days, which seems a lot longer than it would if it were CoVid. I can't tell if I have a cough, either, or if I'm just paranoid about it and am noticing every little tickle. Hoping it's just weather related or psychosomatic.

Okay so maybe we're just disagreeing on semantics. If Reynolds is able to crackdown on certain businesses that are still not taking this seriously, then I'd be fine with that. I don't care what she calls it. I just don't want to keep putting not only my health, but the health of my wife and loved ones at risk.

These shelter-in-place orders aren't "stay in your house" orders, from what I can tell.

I saw a publication from the State of Minnesota encouraging people to go outside and hike, bike, boat, whatever, just stay away from other people while you do it.

I agree. I’m just fearful that she sees the actual definition of it and resists that name. At the same time regardless of steps I think others will criticize until she uses the name.

As it is I think we are really similar to other states. I think it’s important to both go far enough to prevent spread and not go to far and harm people by the response.

A huge problem with that is there are still people who do not agree or believe anything anyone is saying. People throwing parties, some restaurants staying open, businesses not changing, etc. That type of behavior is ruining this for everyone and will only continue to extend our timeline. It's like a kid in elementary school who did something bad and took away the pizza party for the entire class.

Really depends on the location. In densely populated areas, many outdoor places people frequent are closing. They’re crowded baseline, but became even more so now.

I don’t often miss Iowa, but an area like rural NE Iowa is particularly beautiful right now.

I’m fortunate that my neighborhood is predominantly single family housing and not too bad in terms crowding as long as I avoid the main drags, but I know places in Chicago that would be tough to maintain the 6-feet rule.

Reynolds needs to shut down all nonessential businesses. There are plenty still operational, including mine, that won’t do it until directed by the governor.

At least I’m not the only one ;). It’s definitely something I’ve never experienced before but I’ve never lived through a pandemic, so it is probably par for the course in these times.

if testing was widely available, I’d probably go in to see if I had it.

Ya my brother works at a manufacturing plant here in crapids that he can't figure out how exactly they are essential but they've been given the letter for it with verbiage saying he is for his car. Also all the office staff somehow are able to work from home.

Depends where you are. Out here they're closing all public lands and rural vacation zones don't want you there.

WI is a stay at home and the DNR actually cancelled state park entrance fees to encourage people to get out and use them. It's not house arrest. And even then I think you're allowed in your yard!

Supposedly if you’re feeling anxious, you can walk out in your yard barefoot and the contact with the grass will make you feel better.

Some real hippie **** but I might be tempted if I need to shake off some cabin fever

There’s way too many people out and about in Des Moines. No way all of these people are doing just essential shopping. **** like this is why we need a shut down.
