Of course he is coming back. He has nowhere else to go.
And yes, Iowa would be pretty close to what ISU is this season without him.
I think Fran is terrible and has a horrible temper/demeanor, but Iowa is pretty good this year and ISU is not. Not sense debating that.
That being said, I think Garza's improvement has nothing to do with Fran. Fran has shown the last decade he's done little to help his players.

Iowa has open looks because everyone is trying to stop Garza, without him that ends. Just like it did against Illinois that other night. When he is in the game, Iowa was scoring points, when he went to the bench, the scoring fell off.
Everyone is coming back now, but if he continues to play the way he has, I would give it a better than average shot he leaves. Few pass up the money if they are a high draft choice, and Garza is playing himself in to that type of pick.
You nor I know that right now, the way he is playing, all of that could change. I love the way Iowa fans downplay the thought of Garza leaving, but then say, he is one of the best post players in the nation.
Having watched a few of his games, the announcers keep talking about how well he is playing, and the box scores keep showing the same thing, 20 to 25 points and 15 to 20 rebounds, against quality competition. NBA GM's have got to have noticed the same thing. His draft stock will never be higher than after this season, he will just be a year older if he comes back. Why come back if he can get into the first round?
You can be a great college player and not be a high draft pick.

Every good player develops outside of the program he is at. The most over rated thing about college basketball coaches is that they can get a player to the NBA. That is BS. You have to have the talent first, and then you have to push yourself outside of the program. These coaches get very little time with players in the off season and the great players aren't becoming great by putting in the minimum time to develop.
