*** Official IOWA STATE Vs Texas Game(Day) Thread ***

The last part of the game wasn't good, but ISU gave up over 50% on both 2pt and 3pt shots...it's just going to be real hard to win when that happens. Defense...

Across the lineup, ISU just lacks offensive prowess in the paint...they can't consistently finish near the bucket...lots of bunnies missed...again. When that close, you either have to score the basket or get fouled. Just another thing that needs to be fixed.

This is accurate. TH is NOT the guy who creates shots for himself and that you give the ball to in the clutch to win the game. He is a facilitator, a distributor, and a very good one. He was good last year because he was surrounded by talent. He will be surrounded by talent in the NBA. He will not be Steph Curry. I disagree with a poster who said he is a shell of himself this year. He is forced to be something he is not, given his surrounding cast.

It would be interesting to see how many of those there are during Prohm’s tenure. My guess is...a lot.

A “shell of himself”? I’m with you - The dude is averaging almost 15/7/7. He’s not a 30 point scorer. If we had one single player who could consistently put the ball through the hoop - he may average 10 assists per game...

We have MANY problems with this team. Halliburton is not one of them.

I retract that description - but after watching video of him playing with the USA U19 team - he is not playing at the same level. Much more intense with the U19 team.

It's just one of many fundamental things that the players are weak on.

The college BB atmosphere is different now. The elite leagues are weak on teaching fundamentals. If you aren't fielding a roster of top talent, you need to be prepared to teach fundamentals. It's tough to build on anything when fundamentals are weak. Game planning becomes ineffective when basic fundamentals continually break down.

It appears to me that Bolton wants the ball a bit too much. The guy tends to be a black hole on offense. The opposition has scouted Rasir out and dare him to beat them with the outside shot. I view this as a coaching thing. Steve Prohm needs to light a fire under Haliburton. I would suggest disappearing offensively for the last 12 plus minutes of the game does not even qualify one to be Robin. I would classify it more as Commissioner Gordon or Alfred.
 
It was nice to see Haliburton not have to pick up the slack, as much, with rebounding from our big guys like he did against Baylor.

Maybe not but he was a First Team Pre-Season All American. The more the NBA doesn’t know about you the better. You go off hype. He was hella hyped. #1 ranked recruit. Then again that 2011 Draft was not bad at all.

The extension wasn't a great idea, I agree. However, that changes absolutely nothing this season, and even without the ext, JP is not likely to fire Prohm after this season.

The only thing the ext did was cost Iowa St more money, on the contract, and the eventual buyout. I could not care less how much money it cost Iowa St, as long as they try to fix it.
