I imagine I am in the minority on here because everyone loves to overreact to what is happening now. But I don’t agree with this. Could they stink? It’s very possible, but I don’t see it as an inevitability. Our roster is badly comprised right now as far as skill sets. We will turnover a huge portion of the team this year (4 to 5 guys I imagine). The guys coming in have more of the positionless size and skill set that we had last year. As far as losing Haliburton it will obviously be tough, but you have to look at it as replacing the total production of the minutes played by guys who won’t be back in a matter of efficiency. We lose Tyrese who has been effective but we also lose 2 or 3 guys who play substantial minutes have been very inefficient. You can offset the quality of Haliburton’s play over his replacement with better production from the guys taking those other lost minutes with better production from their replacement.
Feel free to dislike this into the oblivion everybody.
He only got 2 minutes last night. He is probably either their second or third most talented player and he barely plays. He is definitely in the Prohm Doghouse.
ISU has no chemistry with this team. There’s no cohesion offensively or defensively.
Yes, I have seen optimism on this board that ISU will be better next year. Replacing Haliburton would be a huge piece in that.
How does it happen?
It's the exact same problem they had last year, just with less talent than last year. Neither of those teams worked together as a single unit well.
It also hurts this team more than it seems that Jackson and Grill haven't got much up to speed. You can see on the floor that they are good, talented players and they have a good grasp of what they're supposed to do -- it just seems like most of their issues (offensively) are between their ears. It's nearly impossible to coach a kid out of his own head.
Fortunately, there's still time for them, but if even one of them could've broken out into a readied player by now (particularly on shooting), this team would be better.
Right now there isn’t a lot of support around him. Bolton is the only genuine threat to score. Put the sit out in, Jackson has shown some ability to shoot, if another freshman can be a consistent shooter you spread the floor out. Right now they pack it in so much and focus on Hali and Bolton when they have the ball. Lewis is good at O but such a liability on D that he doesn’t play much. He has shown some improvement there, but if you can get one other defender besides Jackson next year then you can look for your big O guy.
I'm not so sure Nixon's first half step-back three didn't hit the backboard with enough force to register as a small earthquake.
