Iowa State Basketball is a Mid-Major Roster

What a game again by Garza. When he has players around him making some shot, and the D can't focus solely on him, he absolutely destroys people. 27 points scored in basically in the first 5 min. of the game and then the last 10 min. of the game, as the rest of the game he was in foul trouble.

If you put a good defender on him 1 v 1, he is gonna torch them. Michigan put Teske (who is one of the best big man defenders in the country) on Garza 1 v 1 and Garza lit him up for 44. Penn St. tried to guard Garza with Mike Watkins (another great big man defender) 1 v 1 for awhile as well. Garza torched him for 34 and forced Penn St. into a zone.

Garza is super fun to watch. The way he works and gets position down low, there is nothing these even good defenders can do to stop him once he gets the entry pass. If he receives the pass, he has already won with his positioning and it is a easy 2 pts. every time. I'm surprised teams don't just do what Nebraska did and pack it in on Garza with a double team every time and even a triple team sometimes.
Garza really knows what works for him and he does it well. I don't like watching him because I get frustrated watching officials let blatant arm hooks and fully extended arm holds by the offensive player go. It is impossible to guard a player his size when he can get away with that kind of play. I'm not trashing him for it; if they don't call it, keep doing it. And there is no question he is really good at finishing with a body on him no matter who initiates the contact. I just find it frustrating that officials can't seem to recognize it and call it.

On a broader note, it is strange to me that officials seem to want to call the lame charge call when a defender slides under an airborne offensive player but refuse to call many of the hooks, holds and swim moves as well as the lateral jumps into a defender in a legal guarding position.

Have fun watching all those meaningless ISU games until early March.
LOL, almost to a year ago to the day, Iowa was in the same position and couldn't even give tickets away to the Michigan State game.
An retread troll on here saying whats meaningful and what isn't when it comes to watching basketball is hilarious.

Better than the Prohm December fade.
Wouldn't a December fade by vastly preferable to a February fade, at least in terms of getting to the tournament? December still gives time to right the ship and log good conference wins. February fade loses the important games and has the recency bias issue of...well, recently being s***.

A December fade is losing to Florida A & M.

If there is a February Fade for Iowa the losses would come from any mix of Illinois, Purdue, Indiana, Minnesota, OSU, MSU or PSU.

I see the game tonight is ESPN+ again. I would have tuned in occasional if it was on the regular ESPN channels, but no way I'd pay for that.

I guess I'd take the 1 bad loss, multiple good wins and ending strong over the 1 worthless win, multiple "good" losses and ending poorly, but that's just me.
