What does that have to do with winning basketball games?
He’s a complete ass and I don’t think he would work at a higher level.
I'm in the similar boat as you where I've been patient and generally supportive with the staff, but last night was an absolute monstrosity. I get worked up during games, but at Hilton I do my best to try to stay positive while cheering on the team. Last night I got visibly furious watching the second half. The sloppiness and general appearance of being lost was astonishing.
The same thing could have been said about Johnny Orr.
Michigan took a chance on him as head coach though. It's not like Forbes is Bo Pelini. He just doesn't have the same type of ass kissing personality that Rhoads and Prohm have. Who could we get that has a better resume than he does?
I don't like Greggggg very much personally (too many stories of him being a complete a$$ when Wichita State was still in the MVC), but he did have WSU as a 4 seed a couple of years ago, and they are currently a Top 25 team in both polls.
Arrogant personality or not, the dude can coach.
Ya I don't want someone who has yet another ranked squad and knows how to coach. Idc if the guys a ****, he wins.
I would love Marshall as coach - the players would know there's a new sheriff in the first minute of the first practice.
But I believe he's turned away offers from better situations than ISU...

Thanks for this post cycjob.....I also would take my wife and kids to the games in the 70's and sit inside Hilton wherever you wanted to sit....The student section had a few and I mean very few diehards ...as they said you could fire a cannon off inside Hilton and be lucky to hit any fans.....My son and me were also there for Lynn Nance's last game v. Okie State
In those days there were actually bigger crowds in Hilton for wrestling and gymnastic meets. Nobody wants Hilton to become an empty tomb for basketball again.
After having a week or so to ruminate on the FAMU and TCU losses, coupled with a disappointing non-conference slate, I guess my thoughts on Prohm are relatively simple. I just don't see him being the guy to move the needle forward for this program. Can he keep us relevant? Probably. Will we have a tournament team, probably more often than not? Probably. I don't think we will see the program slide into McDermott-ian depths on his watch. But at the same time I just don't see him being the guy that moves the program forward, or helps us take that next step. I certainly don't think you can say the program is in better shape now than it was 5 years ago. I also think things will likely get worse before they get better with Haliburton likely gone.
So I suppose in a sense it comes down to what your expectations are. There are worse things than finishing somewhere in the 5-8 range in the Big 12 and making the tournament on a somewhat regular basis. I have not completely forgotten about that long drought we had from the tournament. But if your expectations exceed that I think the question becomes whether you can envision Prohm taking the program there.
I guess I look to Coach Campbell as an example. He's been here a similar period of time as Prohm. He had what I think most would characterize as a disappointing year this last year. Not horrible, but not great. But you still have absolutely zero doubt in your mind he's the guy for the job and that the breakthrough is coming. With Prohm, I guess I just don't get that same feeling. I'm hoping he can get the ship righted, because it benefits no one to have to go through hiring a new coach. But based on his tenure thus far, I guess I'm just not seeing it.

We'll never spend the money on a BB coach that Marshall would demand. He already makes almost 4 million per. People need to give that one up.
Based on the complete lack of interest for tickets to the Kansas game, it's pretty evident that the fans have already moved on from Prohm and decided it's time for something different. I don't recall this much apathy over a KU game in my lifetime.
