Manning fired yet?

They obviously dont trust Ramos.
Campbell always says he'd rather play someone too late than too early, throwing him out there against Notre Dame's DL wouldn't be good for anyone. He has 8+ months until the season starts with a tune up against South Dakota.

I don’t disagree going under center, with the assumption it’s regularly practiced ahead of time.

Oddly enough the offense hardly looked comfortable with plays they did run in some 4th and shortish plays or plays after they'd gotten rolling a bit.

OC feels comfortable throwing that out there but not working on a sneak often enough to run it.

The running back has to stay in to block because our line traditionally has not been very good. But also like, 95% of Breece’s catches are him going out into the flat?

Also, you keep saying we don’t do short passes and I’m just not understanding where you’re coming from there. That’s the majority of our passing game. That’s how Jones racked up all the catches he did. We struggled so mightily against Notre Dame BECAUSE THEY TOOK THAT AWAY. We didn’t know how to adjust because it’s such a large part of our passing game. I have no idea what games you’re watching where you think we don’t do that.

Also, we run screens, just with Akers, not the running back. It’s no different.

Agree with most of your statements in this thread, but disagree with the bolded. Campbell and Manning will forget more football theory than most of us will ever learn, and they countered ND significantly with our last possession of the first half (clock management in the red zone notwithstanding).

In reality we have a couple of conflicts when the short to intermediate passing game is schemed away. First, we didn't have a line that could bully and lean on guys consistently to force more concern for the run game. Second, over correcting to just downfield throws will give a defense the opportunity to pin its ears back and create a whole other host of issues.

Lastly, as Jay as pointed out a number of times, towards the end of the season the offense has seen more combo coverage to take away timing and rhythm. This is something that can be countered with a more experienced play caller and QB, both of which should happen in the offseason and 2020.

Not that it matters much, but I thought Manning's initial gameplan and script was solid. Pull a LT to lead for Hall? Beautiful. Quick hits in the passing game to get the ball to our playmakers - basically what everyone wanted all season.

Problem again was spotty execution and getting behind on the scoreboard early.

I saw one in a later game yesterday that they lost yards on. And I thought they were guaranteed for success 100% of the time. I'm still learning and am not a candidate for Manning's position.
That and the fact their entire line was 2 yards in the backfield on our 4th down play. So, I'm guessing a sneak wouldn't have worked anyway.

Then it needs to be someone outside of the program, like I said. Go be an understudy for multiple months. Learn to take criticism and DO something about it. Using yesterday's game as an example, ND's defensive game plan worked perfectly and we didn't make adjustments to it. As an OC, that's your job to make in game adjustments. Even the dudes sitting in the booth were highlighting what they did to take players out of the game.

I think it’s pretty funny that you think a P5 OC needs to go apprentice under someone for 6 months. Who does a person at that level apprentice under? If he needed to go do that then he wouldn’t be at his spot right now u less you think Campbell is an amateur and an idiot.

32 points per game on offense which in the best in ISU history. The last two games were bad but this was a historic season from a points per game standpoint.
The median points at the end of regulation was 25, if you want to include the bowl game. That ULM game really skews our average (though we did score 40+ in regulation 3 times). We moved the ball a ton, which correlates well with winning games and yielded some good analytics for us, but we didn't turn those yards into points often enough.

Do points scored in overtime not count?

We averaged 32 points in conference play as well.
