Iowa Football Recruiting

Just pointing out it is very odd for the "#520" player in the country to have 1 offer. I really do love how highly ranked Iowa's recruiting class is this year!

Well I find it odd the “#31” class in the country has so many players that P5 coaches were uninterested in. So many mysteries.

My understanding with Twedt is that he essentially wasn't buying that Campbell was sticking around (even after he told him that he was) and that rubbed Campbell the wrong way. Campbell stopped contact shortly after. It's pretty simple really. If your future coach is telling you something and you're not intelligent enough to mark it down as truth, then clearly you aren't what the staff is looking for.

Throwing no shade at Campbell at all, I’d feel the same way of it was Iowa or anyone else. If I had a kid being recruited and a young successful coach told him that he would be there for his entire career I’d only half believe him as well. Too many variables. Too many unknowns. You commit to a school not a coach.

I tend to agree. I'm sure Chizek told kids he was recruiting that he was "firmly entrenched" in Ames a week or two before he bolted to Auburn. Coaching jobs are very fluid nowadays especially when the coach doesn't have previous ties to the school.

Do you think Kirk Ferentz will be the coach at Iowa for Twedt’s whole career?

Why do you think Bouman didn't have any other offers? Seems like he camped all over, and was trying to earn offers, yet got only 1 from ISU

Why do you think half the members of Iowa’s highly rated class didn’t get hardly any offers? I mean other staffs saw these guys play too, but none or 1 other P5 offer.

Iowa's coaches are really good at seeing talent where other coaches can't. Probably why Iowa has more guys on NFL rosters than programs like Texas, USC, and others that rank in the top 20 every year with gobs of 4* recruits.

So the is reason they don’t win like USC and Texas is because they are just worse at coaching?

No idea. That’s my point. You commit to the school and not the coach. He is going to enroll at Iowa in the fall of 2021. His last season playing may very well be the fall of 2025. Ferentz will be 70. Are we sure he will still be coaching? Of course not.

I’m not throwing shade at Campbell. He seems to be a good man and I don’t think he’d purposefully lie to a recruit, but why would you believe it 100% when he says he will be at ISU in six years?

I disagree. In today's athletic world you are more so committing to a coach.
