Some good stats on the Camping World Bowl

The bowl matchup Gods were not kind to the Big 12 this year as it looks like every Big 12 team is an underdog. That's one of the reasons why conference bowl records are not a very good barometer for strength of conference.

True but the league has a huge opportunity for that same reason.

Went 4-3 in games where they were all underdogs last year. OU losing to Bama, ISU to almost playoff Wazzu, and WVU without Grier were the losses.

Went 5-3 in 2017. OU in OT to UGA, TT losing to a good USF team, and WVU without Grier were the losses.

4-2 in 2016. TCU lost to UGA and WVU lost to Miami.

League should do well again.

Or, if the Big 12 teams were actually better they'd be favored. Just depends on which way you want to look at it.

Vegas sets their line at least partially to perception. They want even bets on each side and with only two “helmet schools” that will usually break against the Big 12.

Right, teams get a whole month to prepare and create a game plan vs 6 days in the regular season.

Plus some teams have star players who choose to sit out, plus some teams are either incredibly excited or very disappointed with their bowl assignment, etc..... I hate to say it, but except for the playoff games, bowls are just glorified exhibition games. Risky games to wager on.

Alabama - Michigan is an excellent example this year. If it were a regular season game I'd be all over Bama to cover what I'd expect to be a pretty large spread. As it is, I wouldn't touch this game now.
