I have answered your question, maybe not in the way you would like, but I have answered it several times.
I knew the B1G West was a meatgrinder but wow.
Plus 2 of Iowa's 3 crossover games was against top 20 teams. When 44% of your conference games are against top 20 teams, you know you are playing a tough schedule. Can you imagine how easy it would be playing in the Big12 where only 10% or 20% of your games are against top 20 teams?
Illinois had more quality wins, and more overall wins. I still don't think Illinois was great, but they did beat a top 20 team, TCU didn't, and TCU didn't make a bowl game.

Yeah, Illinois creates a crazy amount of turnovers, a team like that can beat most anyone on any give day with a couple key takeaways.
How very convenient of you to use top 20 lol. You could also look at it and say:
ISU played 2 top 10 teams and lost by a COMBINED 3 points
Iowa also played 2 top 10 teams but however lost by a combined 7 points.

Swap Rutgers and Louisiana Monroe and it becomes a lot closer. What would that have done to Iowa and ISUs records and rankings? absolutely nothing.
