Campbell Extended

Haha the Campbells move fast! From signing an extension with ISU, to quitting, to getting the FSU job, and now finding a new house, all within a couple hours.

Obviously CMC likes a challenging rebuild. At the rate Mizzou is going, they're positioning for a great rebuilding opportunity that will be better than what he had when he came to ISU.
Sometimes, the fundamentals are just wrong. I fear that's what is going on in COMO. When your natural rival switches from Ku to Arkansas, and you're the lone Yankee in a Dixie conference, it's hard to make a case for much of anything.

having jp and having campbell around in 2023-2024 with pay dividends

I'm aware of what it would mean to have them both here at that time. What I'm saying is while this glues us to Campbell until 2025 it probably doesn't do much more to glue him to us. His buyout decreases every year and last I read, it was only $2 million if he leaves in the year prior to 2/1/23. Maybe this extension nudges that up or restarts the clock on his buyouts and extends them another year or two.

Of course, the flip side of that argument is that even if he left in two or three years we'll almost certainly be on much better footing as a program and be more attractive to a prospective coach than at any other point in modern ISU history. All would not be lost heading into another round of realignment.

I guess I never had much interaction with them other than the CWS but man, FSU fans are trash. Their coaching search is going to be great, they aren't a legit candidate for any of the big names, Norvell is their best bet. With as weak as the ACC is, he'll do great their IMO.

His boss probably does though
Yeah.... ooorrrrrr it could be they are going out to recruit guys for 2020 and if you do the math they can say "Hey, I just signed a contract that guarantees I will be here the whole time you are in school!" Sorry, I know conspiracy theories are much more fun.

Just occurred to me this could be a Ya Boy troll job, which would be perfect.

We will win the Big 12 Championship within the next 2 years. I predict a the best recruiting class in school history in 2021.

....but will we ever beat Iowa by 2025? K-State maybe once? The Oklahomas? Worth a shot, I guess.

To those disagreeing I know what he says as a fact.

There's no need to go into detail here, but everyone knows people whose public image is very different from who they are when people aren't looking. I imagine it was always hard for Fred to live up to being the Mayor from the time he was a teenager, but coming back to Ames to coach it was probably harder to live with than he thought it was going to be.
