All Iowa Football Team---Post Bowl Edition

So those 3 and Kolar are all better than your best pass catcher?

Not sure. They could be. Smith is good and I like ISM too. Tracy keeps getting better and better as well. Plus LaPorta has really been stepping up lately too.

Yes, I think Stanley is better than Purdy. I think the three best WRs are Smith-Marsette, Milton, and Smith/Jones. I’d maybe lean Jones if my team’s offense relied on trick plays to score points.

I'm surprised you haven't been back CP84

Nothing compared to the horrific defenses ISU has played.
Total D Rankings out of 130 FBS teams
UNI FCS
ULM 129
Kansas 123
TT 121
Texas 105
OsU 80
WVU 79
Actually it's pretty comparable..
Rutgers 129
Northwestern 128
Miami Ohio 122
Illinois 113
Purdue 95

Iowa's ranked 96th in total offense compared to Iowa State being 12th. Iowa's ranked 13th in total defense compared to Iowa State's 50th. Iowa has played two top 50 offenses, including Iowa State. Iowa State has played three top 50 defenses, including Iowa.

I'm not going to argue with you but since you asked I will tell you where I personally disagreed. I am genuinely trying to be objective which is why I won't argue with you beyond telling you my thoughts.

RB - Hall could be really good but I prefer the proven commodity for now which is Sargent. When he became the primary back the last two games of the regular season he rushed for almost 300 yards. It's tough to speculate how much playing time Hall will see as a true freshman since there are other more experienced players on your roster that may get more carries.

TE - I will take Wieting or Beyer, both unproven, over Kolar, also unproven, based on Iowa's history with the position. Iowa uses the TE a lot more. They coach up their TE's very well. I'd be shocked if Kolar ends up with better stats than Wieting/Beyer, whichever one ends up being the primary TE.

WR - Give me Smith or ISM over Pettway. Pettway's stats weren't that much better than Smith's or ISM's despite Pettway being the #1 option in the passing game for Arkansas and ISM/Smith being the #3 and #4 options for Iowa.

DL - Mostly agree but I like Golston more than anyone not named Epenesa and Bailey. Gholston is going to be a stud.

Bump

That's what happens when you have the #1, 4,7,10,13,18 and 27th ranked defenses in the country
So you don't think those numbers are skewed by the terrible offenses those teams play? Just as I'm sure you will or do say that the big 12's offensive numbers are skewed by the defenses they play. The exception is when Big 12 teams go play these "top rated defenses" in bowl games, guess what, they still put up the points and stats.

Why don't you answer the question with your honest opinion? You had no problem doing it when comparing Minnesota and Iowa State but now you're scared to do it when it's your favorite team in the conversation?
Atleast Buddy would attempt a debate.

At one point, like 2-3 weeks ago, I heard on the radio Rutgers had about twice the TDs NW did. Woof.

@dexterhawk @iahawks you still think you have a WR on your roster better than this guy?

Hawks have played 7 top 50 defenses including (barely) ISU

I don't watch ISU enough, just look at stats and some highlights here and there. Offense has put up good numbers against bad defenses and the defense has been OK against good offenses. So it is hard to judge. But from reading this board, I feel it almost has to be all ISU players don't you think?

Almost word for word what Benji has posted before.

You don't watch enough ISU to be able to compare them to your favorite team but you could compare ISU to Minnesota? Lol how is that possible

Here's something crazy, then don't just read this board. Go to a Hawk message board and post the question....

I was talking about Minnesota's WRs and RBs. Not the whole offense. Those are easier to do because there are stats to look at to give you some help. I would put Bateman and Johnson up against just about any WR combo in the country.
