Anybody have any thoughts about the upcoming dual on Sunday?

Looks like Carr will have a good match at 157 (if he wrestles?) as Bucknell's Zach Hartman is a returning NCAA qualifier.

Bucknell has another returning qualifier at 197 in Drew Phipps (FYI-he was eliminated from the tournament last year by our own Willie Miklus). I'm assuming Shapiro will start over Duggan. Either way - will be a tough match up.

Expecting a relatively easy win for the team, but should be a good opening opponent.

What does everyone else think?

I’m thinking it’ll be nice if I’m done combining so the wife and I can make it!

Bucknell's heavyweight is ranked #17. Other than HWT and 197, we need to dominate.

I don't know if asking Carr to dominate is too much, but if he's going to prove he's a title contender, it probably needs to happen.

Looking forward to seeing the team back in action.

WT WRESTLER 19' RECORD EIWA NCAA

133 david campbell JR (7-12)
141 noah levett SO (3-6) (1-2)
149 matt kolonia JR 15-15 (1-2)
157 #18 zach hartman SO 28-9 2ND NQ 2-2
165 mitch hartman SR (8-4)
174 frankie guida JR 16-13 (0-2)

197 drew phipps SR 25-12 6TH NQ 1-2
285 #17 garrett hoffman SR injured NQ 17'

The HWT was a .500 kid and NQ at 184 as a freshman but hasn't wrestled the past 2 years due to an injury he had as a Sophomore. I have no idea why he is ranked so high at HWT???

I hope Carr and Parker can get in there and get one in before Iowa. We need full force for that one.

The Iowa dual wont be close. Carr needs to get as many matches against top competition as possible in preparation for nationals.

Define won’t be close.. They will rack up bonus points but we have a good shot at winning 4 matches. What’s your prediction?
I hope Carr and Parker are active this weekend. Cheap wins add up later in the year.

I know last year no one would have thought it would be close especially in Iowa City. If Miklus pulls out a victory the Cyclones would have won. Lets hope some how we pull it off this year!

I’ll put my prediction out next week. Don’t want to hijack this thread. By won’t be close I don’t think ISU is within 10 points.

Bucknell is probably not going to be wrestling their starting HWT. Shapiro is most likely starting at 197, at least that's what Coach said in our availability today. Which i have a video of that I will get up soon.

Agree here. Had an absolute perfect storm last year with the early season issues Iowa was having. Then won the toss ups and got a MFF in a match we were trailing. Should win a few but Iowa might bonus at 5 weights.

They could bonus at more than that.

I see able to have a chance in 5 matches. How generous is that?

Edit: just to be clear I was referring to the Iowa dual.

Hope there is a good crowd there. Expect to see the guys go out and get after bonus points. Should get bonus in at least 4 matches.

Want to see Carr go out and dominate as well. He has shown a tendency to take his foot off the gas with a lead. So, want to see him control the match from start to finish and keep scoring throughout. First time in front of the home crowd for him.

Could be a potential 8-10 point swing if Lee doesn't wrestle. However we also won't have Gomez down to 133 yet which will cost us points (even though Small is a top 20 guy). Regardless of the outcome, there will be good matches and it will be a fun dual to watch

Yes, that’s true. If Iowa doesn’t wrestle some of their guys, that could give ISU a chance.

I’ve got 141, 149, 157 and 184 where ISU is a slight favorite in all 4. The challenge is the mismatches at many of the other weights.

I think Gremmel should win too but maybe I’m missing something
