Here's an example that might help flip your opinion on that.. When there's an injury in any sport, reporters sometimes give an update on that players injury, even if their status has not changed at all.

But that update is usually predicated on someone talking to a team official or medical person so while the status is the same, their actually is new info or a new perspective. Plus, when ESPN does it without new info, they’re wrong!
