STAFF PICKS: Xavier Foster

Fran can't recruit. Prohm is a great recruiter. This wasn't hard to figure out so shame on those who questioned me on this one
TBF, Fran has had the state on lockdown for quite a while; mostly to his and UNI's detriment. Throw in the rumors that X has grown up a hok fan and it's easy to see why a lot of us figured that's where he'd end up.

Starting 5 next year (assuming TH is gone):
Bolton
Grill
Griffin
Foster
Young

Off the Bench:
Conditt
Jackson
Blackwell

I love it.

You're leaving off the sit out transfer, Johnson(?). I hope they didn't bring him in to sit on the bench 2 straight years at least.

Deanvogs is in the bullpen loosening up.... this gonna be good :)

I need to go popcorn shopping this weekend. I think I am going to be "sick" on Monday, too.

Goober Prohm has landed...

Wigginton
Horton-Tucker
Lewis
Long
Griffin
Lard
Haliburton

All of which were in the low 5*, 4*, or high 3* range.

McCaffery has had some good recruits...

Woodbury
Wieskamp
Cook
Gesell
P. McCaffery
Garza
C. McCaffery

...though a lot of them were some time ago, are lifelong Hawkeye fans who kind of fell into his lap, or indeed are his own sons.

Past successes are no excuse for the monstrosity he is putting together for this recruiting cycle, though. And it is not like he has the spring to bail him out.

Of this list, two were his sons, three were life-long Hawk fans and Iowa was their dream school (Wieskamp, Woodbury, Gessell). That leaves Cook and Garza as legit recruits he has landed in the last 6-7 recruiting cycles. If the top instate talent isnt going to Iowa Fran is screwed. Next up is Tamin Lipsey. The fact Fran is even trying to recruit him is hilarious.

Fred (and that dumpster fire called Nebrasketball) has a better shot at Tamin than Fran does.

I need to find the post from HR/HN where the poster stated something along the lines of "ISU fans won't appreciate XF like Iowa fans would because ISU fans just see a 4 star talent while Iowa fans have been watching him the last 4 years".

Appreciate him like Iowa fans would... they don't even appreciate the players they DO have. If they did, it wouldn't be a morgue in there every home game.

He currently has the #65 rated class (https://247sports.com/college/iowa/Season/2020-Basketball/Commits/) Which doesn't sound horrible until you consider the fact he has four commits already. There are, I think, two or three b1g teams currently ranked lower, but they have only one or two commits. It is possible, if not likely, he will end up with the worst class in the b1g unless he lands Foster. I always figured having Fran Jr. and Fran Jr.II would impact his already shaky recruiting, but I never dreamt it would be this bad.
