Part of the CFB 150 anniversary, ESPN has a panel of 150 media members, athletic administrators and former players and coaches who compile different lists throughout the season.

This week, they have compiled the 150 greatest games of all time

The Cowboys' best-ever chance at finishing No. 1 went awry on a Friday night in Ames. The Cowboys went ahead by 17 points in the third quarter. But Iowa State scored a touchdown with 5:30 left to tie it. After trading TDs in the first over time, Ter'Ran Benton picked off Brandon Weeden to set the stage for Cyclones' RB Jeff Woody's winning 4-yard TD run.

The App State/Michigan game would be where it's at or higher had Michigan lived up to expectations that year.

I'm surprised and glad the cal-stanford band is on the field game isn't on the top 10. I'm sure it's on the extended list somewhere but that game has always been overrated to me.

Interesting find at #134
134. At No. 1 Notre Dame 14, No. 2 Iowa Pre-Flight 13
Nov. 20, 1943
In 1943's de facto national title game, the Fighting Irish and Seahawks were tied 7-7 through three quarters. Notre Dame fell behind 13-7, but the Seahawks missed the extra point. A late 6-yard touchdown by running back Creighton Miller gave Notre Dame the win.

I think people confuse "great finish" with "great game". I'm not sure if it made the list but the Michigan St/Iowa Big 10 championship game was one of the worst, most boring, awful football games I've ever watched. The last drive of the game was fantastic. That drive didn't make up for the 79 hours the game took to get to that point.

Poor Missouri and KU. They are represented on the list by the Flea Kicker and 5th Down games(both MU losses), and KU losing the Orange Bowl when Penn State had a second chance to make the winning 2 point conversion because KU had 12 men on the field for the first try.

Had to look that up.
Apparently "Iowa Pre-Flight" was a military academy established on the campus in Iowa City, that only lasted a few years during WW2.
