Darlinstone Dubar

Pump the brakes. Trust me on this one

I was getting a bit concerned with the lack of smoke from the staff on Anderson... Same lack of smoke on Lewis getting a set role in the rotation. Tre and Grill already seemed to have earned at least limited minutes on this years team.
While I don't think we should speculate on any players leaving especially a freshman before the season, the staff is recruiting like there are a couple spot opening in the spring.

Cytwins any whispers on Leech you feel comfortable sharing, I assumed his role is limited as he recovers from his injury and gains weight but, there hasn't been much else on his early practice expectation from the staff I've seen.

he’s a LONG ways from the 5 star top 40 ranking he received as a sophmore in hs

maybe he’ll get back to that maybe not but he’s a LONG ways away.

Shayok is the only one of Prohms transfers you could put in the Top 10 of transfers since 2011. Prohm's high school recruiting has been better, his transfers worse so it's a wash as far as recruiting goes.

I don't have an issue at all with his recruiting, what gets me angry is the results we've seen with these recruits. We'll see what happens the next 2 years, those will be crucial to how long he will remain here.

Not to get back on topic, but this kid looks like he has some solid offers even though his ranking isnt the greatest, so hopefully him and Foster both are on campus in 2020.

You want to find all of these obvious skewed stats to try and win your argument and it's pretty old and tiring. Both coaches were able to bring in talent. When both coaches had good talent they produced good win totals. Prohm's tenure is obviously shorter than Hoiberg's, so his one bad season hits his totals harder than Hoiberg's does.

Were you claiming Hoiberg is a bad coach after 2014 when he had a 65% winning percentage over 4 years? Which compared is to 61% for Prohm over 4 years. Obviously less, and obviously some missed opportunities (see last year's conference slide), but it's not like were talking worlds of difference. Given the limited sample size and margins of error, both coaches are essentially the same and generate very similar results.

Leech needs to improve if he ever wants to be a contributor at this level

That is what my spidey sense was indicating from afar. Espcisally with the recent development of Prohm getting Blackwell and now going after Dubar after having Anderson and Leech on campus for 6 months now. Thanks for the info.

Right? My expectations are to make the tournament every year. How far I think they go will depend on the team and draw.
I generally agree, although every year isn’t even a requisite of doing a good job if the peaks are high enough. Imo NCAA Tournament success has a large weight, but is also a crapshoot. One of these years, the bounces will go our way.

@IASTATE07

Grow up, all I do is present facts on these threads, and use those facts to back up my opinions that Prohm isnt quite getting it done here. Nice to know all you guys are fine with being under .500 in the Big 12.

Facts that are completely devoid of context are misleading. That .500 mark is completely thrown off by 2017-2018's 4-14 record, which was the result of an inevitable drop off due to a few failed recruiting efforts towards the end of Fred's tenure.

You are one of my favorite posters on here, so thank you for the info.

Just some comments in response...

-- Even if Foster was the #150 guy in the country, that is still a decent post recruit for us. Jacobson and Young are about to leave. We need good replacements.

-- Yes, you are right, but we both know we have a checkered history with in-state recruits and watching them go to an obviously inferior program to the east. Iowa has generally had 1-2 guys from in-state schools that I would have liked to have had during the McCaffery era. Joe Wieskamp is a stud, for instance, and JorBo is lippy but a good player. We should have had Jok. There is no reason the best in-state players should not always be wearing cardinal and gold unless opposing coaches are quite literally their family like with A.J. Green and Fran's sons.

-- Confirming the rumor about breaking up with the girlfriend...? I know that is what high schoolers and young adults do but, man, I feel sorry for Xavier on that one.
He rebounded pretty quick after the breakup lol

He inherited a bit down year for 2017-18 when he was hired, but one which he made worse by reaching for guys. He was left with a quality starter for that team, plus Young and Jackson which were essentially inherited. Often in seamless transitions the new staff bring recruits with them, but unfortunately that didn’t materialize in this case. Part of that’s on Prohm, but also Fred and JP for the transition happening in June.

Imagine being so against a coach you have to move goal posts like you guys do.

the best part about Iowa State winning, aside from us being good, is that none of the crew will be around.

what the hell are you talking about? If you think Probm has recruited 8 of the top 15 players that have ever come to ISU... well, you haven’t watched much ISU basketball.

We're now writing off a true freshman big who has yet to play his first game?

Or the old folks can stop being bitter *****

Sorry, I don’t believe over half of the Top15 best basketball recruits in ISU history were signed in the last 5 years. If so we should have very very high expectations for this season. And the last one. And the one before that. And next season, give our team is stocked with the best talent in program history.

You gotta put recruiting rankings in context. What site is this? How far back do their rankings go? Do they include JCs? Transfer players?
