ESPN+ ISU BB Game Schedule

Didn’t we already have this thread when knownothing said he was leaving and never coming back. He never left by the way.
(S)he doesn't KNOW how, duh...

As I said in the other post I think this is an opportunity for us Cyclones to show that we are very valuable to the other conferences/sporting world with our huge fanbase that will pay to watch our team. B1G won't say that we don't need ISU because they want add revenue.

BUT, streaming is awesome in the metros of the world, but what about when you are on vacation or live in the open areas of the world where internet is not greater than 1 GB if you have it at all?

Small price to pay for ISU getting over $40 million a year.

I'm willing to wager that Amazon will be selling their 4K Fire TV stick for like $25 on black Friday. If you don't have a streaming device this will be the day to get one.

Would be interesting to know how many Americans don't have access to internet speeds that support streaming

Then compare that to our fan base.

Is ISU at a disadvantage because too many of us don't have 21st century technology?

I can guarantee you it's a lot more than you would think, especially when you get out into the rural Iowa towns. Hell, even in DSM I had to drop Century Link and switch to Mediacom because the infrastructure in my neighborhood is out dated...

Anyone know if I can use an Ipad as a hotspot with the Firestick? Parents dont have internet but they are on my unlimited Verizon plan and they want to watch the games on their tv. My understanding is that ESPN+ wont work with an Ipad and Lighting to HDMI adaptor.

The real downside to this is that the average fan is not going to pay for ESPN+ to watch a game that they have no interest in. Pretty sure a North Carolina fan isn't going to subscribe to this to watch ISU vs KU.

I’ve used my iphone as a hot spot and streamed a game on the fire stick before.

Problem is its not THAT easy for some people. As I have pointed out many times. If you do not have quick enough internet you either wont be able to stream or it will be very spotty and not HD for you and very hard to watch. It is also will be awhile behind then real time even if we do have good internet. so your alerts you get on your phone or texts you get from friends and family that are at the games or listening on the radio about the game will ruin the game.

How common is it for people to not have fast enough internet for streaming in 2019?

Just checked....they have quite a few games on the ACC network including vs. UVA in December.

How easy is it for the average fan to watch the ACC network?

There is your answer. Here in Iowa there are a TON of farmers and people that live in rural areas. I lived in a large town here in iowa for awhile and did not have access to fast enough internet because the development I was in was 10 years old and mediacom and centry link had already ran their lines in the town before the development was developed and I called many times to get them to just come do it and they wouldent because of cost

Looks like data from 2010, but about a third of Iowans live in a rural area.
