Purdy already starting to carve up some good defenses got me thinking about how good he could be as an upperclassmen. Six offensive starters from the current soph class:

Purdy
Lang
Kolar
Milton
Downing (RS FR)
Newell

Need a couple of playmakers on the perimiter to emerge and some holes to be filled on the offensive line.

Are you referring to the NFL?

Outside of Montgomery and butler, cyclone fans have really overestimated our potential. Anyone remember when it was a lock that kirby van der ksmp was gonna make a team...
I definitely agree with you, but I do think if Kolar returns next year that he could be one of the top 5 TE's in college football. You gotta remember that Campbell's first recruiting class at ISU are now seniors and redshirt juniors. I think there are some NFL kids on the roster, or at least potential NFL kids - Purdy, Milton, Kolar, McDonald, Vance, Rose, Eisworth etc.

I saw a recent mock draft that had Eisworth going in the 3rd round.

Purdy and milton are a little short for the nfl.

That’s because we used to appreciate undersized and under talented guys that worked their tails off for us.

Kolar has legit NFL measurables, and if he continues playing like he has, he’ll probably be a top 5 TE next season.

I completely agree with your criticism of ISU fans in that area but think Kolar is different. He is the real deal and you have to remember in the modern game there aren’t a ton of legit TEs - he has less competition than a WR or RB for example.

I’m not sure we see Kolar past next year.

Kolar is also an extremely smart kid. 4.0 student. Values his education. If he isnt a clear day #1 or day #2 pick I think hed come back and finish his degree. I hope so. Purdy as a senior with those weapons could be ridiculous.

Regardless of academic prowess, I'd think it would be hard to finish a mechanical engineering degree and possibly pass the FE after being away from school for years. Really depends on his draft grades and how important the degree is to him.

Im not going to beat the Kolar leaves early to the NFL drum(after his jr year), but what he represents is great size and very reliable catching ability that would translate to the NFL.
Those guys are not a dime a dozen. The NFL is filled with different types and sizes of skill guys but the college game probably doesn't produce a lot of tight ends with his size and catching ability.

Milton is 5'11" I think. Purdy is 6'1". Neither are too short.

I watched the NFL draft somewhat closely for the first time in years this year and it seems to me they want WRs to be really short and fast. Just going by the measurements and times I saw from most WRs taken in the first four rounds.

If including redshirt freshman, Shaw is going to be good. Mitchell has ability.

Just need the young OL to keep improving
