WWE Hell in a Cell (2019) Thread

I enjoyed AEW. There are some timing things that need to be worked out but pretty good for a first show. We'll see if they can get the same energy in the builiding from week to week going forward and it'll probably help that they're moving into smaller venues going forward.
My biggest gripe is their announce team. JR has really lost his fastball and Exacalibur looks ridiculous wearing that mask and is WAY too over the top with everything that happens. Use JR as a special attraction and go out and get Mike Tenay or Tazz to partner with Schiavone. Schiavone is being critically underused by not having him call the play by play.

I didn't mind the commentary, I must have just been nostalgic for JR. I laughed the first time I heard "dear god". I agree Excalibur in the mask and suit looks completely ridiculous, I wonder if they thought that would be a gimmick that worked. I could see a Lucha being in the announce booth, but unmasked, and nothing wrong with that.
As a casual fan, I was super impressed with both shows last night. I had never seen either before so I didn't have any preconceived thoughts going in. Both had some flaws (AEW moreso but they are new so give them a pass), but I thought the product was better than what we have seen on WWE now a days.
Honestly I normally watch each episode of Raw/SmackDown in about half an hour, normally fast forwarding through the wrestling portions for the most part. I gave both programs my full attention for the entirety of the shows and thought they delivered. Watching Johnny Gargano vs. Shane Thorne was mind blowing to me, that was actually intriguing in ring wrestling. I would love to see more stuff like that.
edit: I had never seen the Young Bucks as well, but heard of them, and then saw them and was like really, these chumps? Damn they look pretty amazing, lot's of innovative things going on that I think can draw in a new crowd with how athletic is it. And that goes for both show's all around.

Side note. I don't think it's a "Wednesday Night War" like it was with Monday. I think there are a ton of fans like myself that will DVR both and watch both. Back in the Monday Night War days you really had to pick one or the other. You had your preference, and you would flip back and forth as needed.
Excalibur did commentary for PWG for a long time and has always worn the mask. I can take it or leave it personally but it definitely bothers some people. Jim Cornette absolutely loses his **** over the mask but speaks highly of Excalibur's ability to call a match.
Dynamite was good enough without setting the bar too high. I was worried going in that they wouldn't be able to keep it in their pants and would wind up making the first show nearly impossible to follow up. In ring action was really good for the most part even though there were definitely some botchy spots. Riho/Nyla went back and forth between good and almost unwatchable. Thought for sure Nyla should win the title and have Britt Baker chase her for a while but that match changed my mind. Nyla has loads of potential but has a long ways to go. Nakazawa is lucky his neck didn't wind up broken. Hopefully Nyla improves a lot but for now, you just can't have your first champ out there putting on botch fests week after week.
Loved the way the show ended but the execution wasn't flawless by any means. Got kinda awkward and seemed like some of the guys in the heel stable weren't totally sure what to do and just wandered around not really accomplishing anything. Read some rumors before watching the show that Hager might show up and I was pumped about the idea of having someone like him in AEW. Then the camera zoomed in on him at the end of the show and I was reminded how important charisma and confidence are for a pro wrestler.
I've only seen the first match of NXT so far and damn that was good. How the hell those guys keep that pace for an entire match is beyond me. When Riddle tried tossing Cole up on his shoulders and Cole countered it into a backstabber, I was legitimately surprised and impressed which doesn't happen a lot with wrestling. You could say the same thing about the guy who came out after the match only X100. So happy he's going to be on NXT.

SmackDown stage is gorgeous, especially compared to Raw’s new stage. Recording it to watch later as I’m at my parents’ house getting ready for the ISU game tomorrow.
