If you watch the end of the game you can see where the ISU returner got....... you know the rest.

Wipes out an automatic first down that would have put us is field goal range. Who knows how things would have played out, but chances are we would have at least had a chance to kick a game winning field goal and leave Iowa with little to no time left.

Referees rarely throw a flag to "make up for a call" unless it's pass interference. The referee saw Iowa's player fall to the ground and threw his flag. It didn't look like a hold during real time or on film. Either way, it was called and the game moves on.

I think we had Jamaal Johnson lined up to. Just a tough scenario for the defense and they put themselves into that situation by not making a few plays before this one.

They did call illegal hands to the face. The penalty was declined...

Iowa's best player is AJ Epenesa. Just because Iowa State played well on him doesn't mean he isn't their best player.

AJ's been pretty irrelevant in 2 out of 3 games. Several of us knew that he was going to struggle as an every down DE.

Maybe.. I think he's still pretty dang good and is probably receiving a ton of attention from opposing teams right now. Towards the end of the year there will be enough film to evaluate to actually tell how good he is.

To be fair, there have been plenty moments in Iowa State athletics where the complaining of referees has been justified.

I think you have the best defense in your conference and it will serve you well but there will be several more games where leaving that many points on the table will get you beat.

Same can be said for Iowa....

He will still be a top 15 pick but he's 100% a pass rush specialist.
